Surprised at the silence here on this topic.

Ok let me fire this up.

We are looking a clssic fight between the haves and the havenots

The haves want to remain in the EU, they take a long term view of benefits and are secure in their place within the EU

The have nots want out, they are blaming EU membership for their regressing position in life and esp. immigrants for loss of jobs or reduction in wages.

The race is too close to call which in my opinion means the stay vote will win

Lakini... man can have a dark side.

The deranged man shoots a 42 yr old mother of toddlers thrice, then stabs her six times while on the ground, and when asked his name in court he can only say 'death to traitors, freedom for Britain'

Now Bernard Kenny, 77, was a true hero. The guy lounges at an armed man twice to save the female MP, ending up in hospital with his slashed gut.

Truly, so easy to divide human beings.

We have always looked at a chilled out version of the Europeans since the last worldwar - the fact is: no one hates and kills like those people decide to go to the darkside.

I almost Sympathize with the leave campaigners. Go to London and you will be amazed by the way the city is cosmopolitan, there are as many Chinese/Indians/blacks as there are Europeans.

Breakdown the Europeans and you probably have as many polish/Russians as you have Brits. Most of the low income earning Brits feel under siege and I think just want out.

The problem is that they don't understand that many of the jobs they have fixing houses/plumbing/artisans, factory line jobs cab driving are all consumed by the foreigners they so detest.

I bet Trump is saying a small prayer for an exit vote, should bolster his anti immigration stance to no end.

In my view, Britain will be better out of the EU. For the British, this free movement within the EU has really strained their country when it comes to jobs, housing, healthcare, education etc, coz many within the new and less prosperous EU countries eg Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, want to head to greener pastures in the UK. And with Turkey, and funny eastern Europe countries like Macedonia planning to join the EU, the situation will only get worse. Not to mention they have had to prop weak economies like Greece via the EU.

When it comes to trade, Britain can still sign trade agreements with EU countries. Also Britain is bound to trade more with her former colonies i.e the commonwealth countries and here countries like Kenya will gain immensely.

For defense/security purposes, they are members of NATO, which is not synonymous to the EU, and will still have to cooperate with the EU countries via NATO.

When it comes to power and influence on the world stage, they are bound to have more clout unlike now when their say is diluted within the EU.

Kenya is bound to gain greatly with Brexit. Britain has traditionally been Kenya's biggest and most important trading partner and exports destination. It's also largest source of tourists. Kenyan farmers used to trade with Britain without issues until the EU came up with crazy regulations which has made it very tough particularly for Kenyan small scale horticultural exporters. We can say that our trading was going on well until the EU came in between us and our most important trading partner. We can still trade with the EU with their tough regulations and maybe sign new more friendly trade agreements with Britain. A big advantage for us is that we will be able to talk directly to Britain regarding trade without going through the EU.

Kenyans will remember that not so long ago Kenyan nurses, doctors and other professionals could easily get work in Britain and move over there before EU regulations were changed and said that member countries had to recruit from the EU member countries. Britain will also now be able to recruit top talent from the whole world since it wont be bound by those crazy EU regulations.

It's sad that Britain's influence in the world has been fading since the days of "the empire where the sun never sets" upto now when it has been swallowed by the EU, and bound by regulations made in Brussels. They can't even deport suspected terrorists and other criminals without seeking authority from the EU. It's ridiculous that British courts have in some occasions been overruled by EU court. Britain needs to regain her independence and former glory - to make Britain great again, a Great Britain.

NB: Things have become "sooo bad" in Britain that recently an "immigrant Pakistani muslim" was elected as London mayor (of course helped greatly by the huge immigrant population). The conservatives must be crying in their bedrooms every night.

We also trade with the EU and are not EU members. Britain doesn't have to be an EU member for it to trade with the EU. #VoteOUT

Sterling up more than 1 percent as odds shift towards "Remain" - Reuters News

23-JUN-2016 12:39:31
LONDON, June 23 (Reuters) - Sterling gained more than 1 percent to a 2016 high against the dollar in morning trade in London as bookmakers' odds shifted in favour of a vote for remaining in the European Union in Thursday's referendum.

Betting exchange Betfair showed odds of around 15 percent for a vote to leave, down from more than 40 percent a week ago before the killing of British lawmaker Jo Cox.

The pound gained 1.2 percent on the day to as high as $1.4889 before pulling back to $1.4855.

One-month implied volatility of sterling, shown in prices of currency options, fell to around 19 percent from 25 percent on Wednesday, also an indicator of a drop in the chances of extreme moves in the pound over the next 24 hours.

Can someone teach me here:

If I have a Shenghen Visa I can move freely within the mainland Europe but I cannot enter UK and Ireland until I get their respective Visas.

Now this "free movement" people are talking about ni gani?

Or does it mean that if I am a EU resident like a Romanian or Greecician (Greek) then I dont need a Visa to enter UK?

These are my original thoughts. Show me where I have "stolen it" from. Some of us think about global issues, unlike you whose interest is only fish, baba, "these people" and the railway.

The EU has turned into a monster for Britain and also for Kenya, and has been suffocating both of us. With brexit we will be able to sit at a quiet corner and talk to our friend Britain omundu khumundu.

yes... but you are from outside the EU. for people who hail from the EU they don't need visas. So places like Hungary or Bulgaria can move and they do to the UK. People are concerned about turkey - Turkey wants to join the EU and is like 80M people - they are currently the buffer between the EU and Syria (a whole load of people who want to go to Europe and not really stay in Turkey) and is using that as a bargaining chip.... Europe does not want Syrians and Turkey is asking... "what's in it for me?". that's my pedestrian assessment of matters Europe:

The article below answers your question. Yes an EU citizen can "roam" any corner of the EU, including the UK. And the British are very unhappy since all the taka taka from Eastern Europe has taken over their country. And Britain is forced by EU law to give them housing, healthcare, education and even benefits (allowances) for those jobless/not working.

You may call them taka taka, but I saw an interview where Brits say those Eastern Europeans work harder than Asian or African immigrants, and have fewer medical issues.
