This was definitely a hate crime with an element of radical islam. @Masukuma, really. You are telling me that a 26 yo man living in the US has never seen gays kissing or does not know what gays do, to the extent that 2 random men kissing would trigger such a reaction.  I see it more like a case of a closet radical Islam, triggered off by depression of some sought or a decision to make his mark, may be approached or advised by some handlers. What would calling it (Radical Islamic Terrorism), change? People were attacked and killed simply because they were gay or were associating with gays. Thanks @masukuma for bringing this out. I have read several books by Afghan writers mainly khaleed hosseini and was shocked by the prevalence of homosexuality among Afghanis. All this holy and righteous posturing us just that.

Whether one likes it or not, being entails imposing moral law on others and such imposing must mean acceptance of death. So these deaths are the natural outcomes of human will that must be accepted with equanimity.
It doesn't matter whether you've figured it all out or not.
