There is no strike notice. On the contrary the pilots are working flat out even on their days' off to ensure minimal disruption. KQ is now facing attrition problems from their pilots and engineers who are jumping ship for other airlines. At this rate KQ will have a significant skills shortage by end of this year. From the beginning of last year till now approximately 25 pilots have resigned...10 of them left to do other things and the rest to the middle east and to our neighbouring upcoming rival airline. Another approximately 20 will be leaving before end of the year to the middle east and 5 to the aforementioned neighbour airline.

The biggest loss is from the engineers. My forecast is that KQ will be unable to do heavy maintenance checks on its aircraft and will have to rely on other airlines(probably KLM) who charge exhorbitant fees.

Unfortunately years and years of mediocre human resource and employee relations in the company have lead to this.

If I had the power... I would let Singapore run Kenya for a decade!

Talk about a stupid proposal. Add a tax to tickets. Subsidize the ticket cost. Create jobs for bureaucrats, tenderpreneurs and scam artists like Alex Mbugua. Only crooks or idiots would like such a scheme!
