nzalela wrote:There is no strike notice. On the contrary the pilots are working flat out even on their days' off to ensure minimal disruption. KQ is now facing attrition problems from their pilots and engineers who are jumping ship for other airlines. At this rate KQ will have a significant skills shortage by end of this year. From the beginning of last year till now approximately 25 pilots have resigned...10 of them left to do other things and the rest to the middle east and to our neighbouring upcoming rival airline. Another approximately 20 will be leaving before end of the year to the middle east and 5 to the aforementioned neighbour airline.
The biggest loss is from the engineers. My forecast is that KQ will be unable to do heavy maintenance checks on its aircraft and will have to rely on other airlines(probably KLM) who charge exhorbitant fees.
Unfortunately years and years of mediocre human resource and employee relations in the company have lead to this. nzalela is saying the truth KQ ABP 4.26

What was informing the move? There is no skilled employee who will hang on to a sinking ship with a Captain who cannot steer it out of the storm. When the guy speaks, he sends the wrong signals to everyone. TerryAnne in a past Citizen business interview asked him what is his message to employees and he reckless said he cannot guarantee anyone anything. One will ask with a solid turnaround strategy he can afford not to guarantee anything? For an astute business leader even when a Company is closing tomorrow he/she will never expose it in such a way.

I'd like some time to de-invest from Kenya and move to Rwanda, Tanzania or even Ethiopia! Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

In KQ's case, GoK is paying back all the tax (& more) it ever made from KQ. Meanwhile, @Obiero's buddy Alex is free. Naikuni is free. As are many of KQ's corrupt cabal. Everybody but the Shareholders make money off KQ. Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett
