Hello,
What is the best overall brokerage for stocks on NSE? All the threads I have gotten through the search are more than 3 years old
Any recommendations?

It depends on what you want (solid research, good online trading platform, responsive brokers, pretty receptionists, etc.) and if you want stocks and bonds or just stocks. That said, I think Kestrel is probably the best overall but you have to have Shs 5 million minimum to open an account. Otherwise, I have used SBG and Dyer & Blair and both are pretty good. Cost across all brokers is similar, but some charge monthly account maintenance fees, so ask upfront. Just my opinion. Others will have their own preferences.

Noted that SBG charge 100/- for every transaction over and above the normal charges, I am not sure they charge monthly fees. anyone with the list of all charges by SBG To Each His Own

SBG adopted agency model sometimes back. You will in essence be served by the likes of Centsavvy, Investax Capital etc. This might explain what @Maka noted with regard to staff turnover. On the other hand if you are tech savvy just use their online platform and you will never deal with a soul. Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

Thanks I strongly recommend Kingdom Securities..they have greatly improved their services by embracing technology. First,they have a very reliable OST platform. Second,its very simple to deposit your cds account via Mpesa and its updates automatically without contacting them.And lastly,alerts(sms and emails) for all transactions in your account......... Gone are the days when one had to make several calls and write many emails to be offered service.
