When I worked in tz for a while I found them very welcoming and kind of showed too much respect to kenyans, during that period I did not have a passport and used to go to nyayo house to get that temporary permit paper and the immigration guys at tz always used to tell me - 'mwenye hadhi kama wewe unatembea na makaratasi'. That seemed odd to me considering I was just a hustler going to stick a flashdisk in a server and click on install.

I think magufuli is really trying hard to beef up their confidence, and to make them feel as equals, not to see Kenya as the very big brother.

I get shocked too with the recent stories coz around 10 yrs ago, I was a frequent visitor there and never encountered such. So when I hear these things today, I don't even want to go there.

Its time we separated facts from fiction:

1. Sisi wakenya, we are a bit disorderly, you find guys jumping queues in banks, supermarkets without apologizing. In Bongo, you must exercise patience, which sadly enough, we lack.

2. Our ways of communication are misunderstood to be full of harshness and arrogance. In bongo, u dont order food nor order the conductor to give you your change, you must request. From that they consider us to be arrogant and harsh.

3. Kusalimiana......we kenyans dont care about this fact. In Bongo, you must say hi to anyone near you. I used to find this tiresome initially but i am used to nowadays. Its so strange in kenya, you can sit with a fellow passenger and sit for two hours in traffic jam and fail to even say hi!!!

4. Otherwise, bongoland, especially Dar Es Salaam......it goes down every day except on Monday. Dar people are always on the party mode, try to blend in and avoid causing scenes, and you will live comfortably. I have been here for one and half years, and i have never had even a single encounter with authorities...........

@ Harry..hawa u cant reason with them kwanza the way they separated me and other kenyans and kept us waiting for about 40 min...ile ufala iko hapa bongoland its shocking.....you should see the number of conferences that have been cancelled and re-routed to Rwanda ( $30), Kenya ($67), Uganda ($70) its shocking...the hotels and caters have began complaining! You would think Dar is heaven..eish!

Only Seychelles has scrapped all visa fees for all countries..if only Gadafi was alive our dream of USA would be real.....

@mungaits...I definately need that number..dont worry I will be in beachwear throughout to affirm my tourist status throughout my visit!

Are you in Dar already? Where did you put up? Which beaches have you visited? if you are interested in swimming, like the whole day, south coast would be better. Drop me a mail....mdswissholdings@gmail.com

Give credit where its due, the truth is that most Tanzanians are good. The bad ones are the university educated ones who feel like they havent gotten the best jobs because of foreigners......otherwise, the vast majority, they accord Kenyans a lot of respect and love. In fact for most of them, their dream is to one day get a chance to visit Nairobi City. Nairobi City has a big name here.......though Kidero has completely spoilt how the CBD looks like.

Fell sick sometime back, slight sickness homa tu coz of swimming in cold water and drinking cold stuff.......for the entire week, my landlady always brought me food. Good food by the way, breakfast, lunch and dinner. When my bongo friends learnt of my sickness, everyone visited me, meeeen.......i had never experienced a sense of belonging like that in my life. They empathized with me......hadi nikapona. when i was going to the clinic to get medication, i told the taxi man that i was sick. he took me and brought me back for free... i dint pay even a shilling. if you go to a restaurant and request for food, you tell them that you dont have money.......you wont be denied food!!! this is how these Tanzanians are!!

The problem with us is that when we are in Bongo, we compare Nairobi and Dar, where of course Nairobi ranks better in all spheres, except in alcohol prices, and in the process makes Bongo people feel inferior. this inferior feeling is what at times makes them behave like that, otherwise, for you to survive well......just be in praise of Dar Es Salaam....despite it being dirty and a bit disoredrly!! when you praise Tanzania, Tanzanians will really like you. praise their peace, love and unity.......no tanzanian will ever touch you.

Wezangu P.chaser,Harry et al...please dont get me wrong I've no issues with Tanzanians kwa jumla..its the guys at immigration and the new policy on paying $ 200.I have been coming to Dar for the past decade and trust me this new fee is the problem, a lot of money if you ask me and for what? How do you just impose such an amount of money at this point now and for EAC members in particular ...thats the issue. As for the people ukarimu wao is unmatched and spectacular never felt so much appreciation from a people like these fellows..I feel so safe when getting around Dar, ave already been accepted as one of their own.." Mchaga"..i'll ask my mum if she visited this place some decades agoAnxious Anxious

The food oooooh my such delicacies such as sato na dona heavenly...i cud hamia here just to enjoy this food, weather and ukarimu! ...@ P.chaser I should be visiting Wet Dream's in south beach kujivinjari....

TZ has a lot of pontential in terms of business opportunities if only the guys in power would see the advantage of trading with your neighbour without the roadblocks n am sure EAC will be a real powerhouse to reckon with....I salivate at the thought of the bucks to be made in biashara!

Ah i finally went to nakumatt to get some solution n yes the feeling was refreshing....n i like that they dont use plastic bags and if you want one you have to buy...I can imagine this can be done in Nrb too so that Kidero will stop using the excuse of plastics clogging drainage!!eishLiar Liar Liar

Hapa kasi tu!Sickquot; Sickquot; Sickquot; Sickquot;
I found meaningful work🤓

Great benchmarking, why hasn't our parliament PAC visited TZ to benchmark alcohol prices?
