The people to be diluted are those who will not defend their rights. It doesn't make sense for them to sell at 4 bob when they were diluted at 6.55 and the true value of the share is north of 20 bob. But hey markets are ruled by emotion, nothing is impossible

Alcohol manufacturer turns to solar power to stem costs

KPLC will definitely take a hit as more folks turn to solar installed at their premises be they home-owners using solar to heat their water or factories installing solar roofs to provide power for lighting & even manufacturing.

Will KenGen suffer from lower sales (or expansion)?

" Tightlipped about the cost...and runs parallel to the electricity grid." Seems to be more of a backup. KenGen injects cheap geothermal power to the grid. As long as it continues to do so n the setup costs for solar power remains prohibitive, it's still in business.

It seems the idea is that KPLC becomes the back-up coz the solar generation, despite its cost, is saving them money or they would not have installed it.

Anyway, good luck with all the new projects to inject more power into the system. I hope the large industrial consumers are there to take up the new supply.

We are still consuming very little power as compared to some developed nations. 1500MW demand while South Africa says 45,000MW is not enough. I still see lots of room for growth. Solar still cannot be stored in humongous quantities and its great for those companies with lots of idle land.
