Sounds like a reasonable question. The operators should know why the machines are not working same way a driver should know why a car is not moving.

Really?

Sounds like a reasonable question. The operators should know why the machines are not working same way a driver should know why a car is not moving.

I thought they are the custodians of the machines and therefore have the responsibility over its status/condition................. therefore they should know why it is not working and alternatives.

There is a point the guy has started speaking of its 'American made' and he stopped him right there. The issue is, whether it is made in Kiangoma or wherever, why is it not functional for all that time. And in fact, even if he wanted a mechanical explanation, surely more than 4months is enough time for the managers to have gotten an explanation from the necessary people such that they can explain clearly what is wrong with it. Isn't the tall guy even trying to give the reasons anyway?

Management should be rather straight forward, we just like complicating it to be seen busy. Ensuring the small things are functioning should be the starting point...Unfortunately most managers are obsessed with power point presentations, corner offices, endless meetings and such other absurdities when the very basic are not fixed. When they are called to give directions on basis, they never answer with the excuse 'I have been in strategy meetings the whole day'. Doing what? Drawing Masterplans that will never get implemented simply because no one is bothered on whether the basic things are functioning?

I don't even get why a president is getting into petty arguments with workers, then he gets angry that the lady is not towing his line, she explains to him how they work and he still insists that he was cheated.
Hata ka ni kazi tu, listen to the explanation ask for a detailed report and act on that, otherwise a one minute ambush can be deceptive.

These are no petty urguments.They are what we call coat hanging people ,in this case they are the reflector wearers yet they do not even know what is happening around them. They just draw salaries.This is an African problem.Everyone has experienced this.The operator says the machine is not working, reports to the "new lady who is more than one year into the job" who reports to the tall guy and the tall guy writes a report. Result the machine is down.

I think magufuli wants to see what ordinary Tanzania does and experience.Sio kufanya organised stuff.

If Magufuli didnt fire the chairman of TAA this morning then hii yote ni upuzi. Those people are working in the conditions they found. They are not mechanics nor are they engineers. The "senior bag handler" tried to explain the issue with the machine (about it being American) but Magufuli didnt give him time. Upuzi. Create systems if you want things to work.

Magufuli has very serious concerns. Obviously someone did not do his job and needs to take responsibility. As he says, it could also be deliberate sabotage to carry out illegal activities.
