I really don't like RAO very much but on this issue, the prudent thing would be for IEBC Commissioners to resign. In many countries if there is sufficient suspicion that as a public officer you engaged in corruption or a crime you must step down especially for such a sensitive institution like this where you need to be credible for people to trust you. This is not a Jubilee issue this is an IEBC issue. I must say though that RAO's timing is suspect. He should have started this as soon as we got to know about Chickengate

So, if rao says iebc should go home, is that reason enough to say half the country is supporting his position. And what's if the other half believe these are the best commissioners you can get? What to do? Form tribunal? But Would tribunal reveal any skeleton s in the cupboard? Rao is at his best. Everyone else having a bad headache

I think the reality is that the Kenyan populace is being told that if IEBC stays we have a mini 2007-8 happening again and no one really wants that! So not that they really believe IEBC is rotten but rather Kenya is bigger than all of us! The question is how what then is the best way to get the best of two world. FYI... the clock is ticking!! tick tock! anyone in election management would tell you we are living on borrowed time.

My 1 Cent:

1. A political contest should not only be fair, but should also be seen to be fair. We all know the key contenders of the high sit at this point in time is Jubilee and CORD. CORD feels the referee is biased, the other side has also some reasons to believe IEBC should go. Its even easier than we thought. Why not get a diplomatic solution where the country negotiates with the IEBC Commissioners and give them a send-off package for fairness sake? I am so sure even our "development partners" would be willing to help us pay out such. Even if we are to pay from our coffers, I honestly feel that would be a better way of spending the money(for the sake of a peaceful country) than having its chewed by a few through corruption.

2. Question for Alma: If we were to say that the guys "implicated" by the ChickenGate scandal should go, aren't we talking of the Chairman only? Why should the other resign on that basis yet they were not part of the eating? Would it even be fair for them to do that? And even if the Chair resigns, would the remaining commissioners be seen to be fair? Is Hassan really the problem here? Remember even without him, the commission will be deemed fully constituted(I stand to be corrected)

3. Its my personal opinion that whatever method we use to send these guys home must be within the constitution. That is why my proposal is to call them aside and request them to resign "willingly" citing that they feel some of the important contestants in the race do not trust them. I don't think guys of this caliber should be seen to be 'imposing' themselves on the people, however right their defense may be.

4. Has CORD checked the process of appointing the new commissioners? I think they should.

@alma, @washiku the game plan is simple. Make the IEBC, police, and judiciary seem irredeemably incompetent to oversee the elections so that a political solution aka nusu mkate is worked out. Next will be the judiciary.

Most people seem to be unaware that the Smith and Ouzman case was for the 2010 procurement under IIEC - remember that creature?
The IIEC was the body that did the referendum in 2010 (and a couple of by elections before that if I am not wrong). It's membership was

Washiku I have not said IEBC should go. I have been very clear that some people were implicated in a court case that was heard, determined and concluded to have been recipients of some bribes.

I don't see any reason to keep these people anywhere near public money. I would think that this tabia would continue.

Rahatupu, as I said before this is not a raila or jubilee issue. I think we have had enough of thieves who get away with stuff. After they are caught they come back to talk about our tribe being molested or our party being abused.

No one has answered my question yet.

If you are having sex with a woman and she tells you that she's HIV positive

1. Do you continue and tell her that raila is bad or nusu mkate or
2. Do you get up and run?

If these people are suspected of being corrupt in such a sensitive post, they should just leave. How they leave is their option.

Thus far I can see that Raila has an opinion on how they should leave. What is jubilee's opinion on how they should leave?

Why pay corrupt people anything? Arrest them the moment they leave the office and send them to the UK and pretend the UK courts hate Kenyans.
Thieves are not good people. Tumeelewana?

@alma I've not said they must stay or they are clean. I've only alluded to RAO'S grand scheme of things.
