My initial problem is with the ukabila thinking which even pervades Kenya's 'best interest' by MEASUREMENT even in their plans as shown here with the pipeline and this argument stands, whether it is eurobond, or scaring away public servants with arguments that melt down to mundane "tribal thinking". People who can't think in logistics never think in terms of measurements, just upuzi time wasting random arguments. All MEASUREMENTS financial, logistics support Kenya's position, wasting time arguing about peculiar immeasurables such as other unnamed/mysterious "interests" from peoples who more often than not do not know what is in their best interest or do not have capacity to develop measurable elements of this 'interest'. Plans have been drawn, costings done, e.t.c. Turkwell gorge project was built in the interest of the french and politically heeled in Kenya, it may and is probably the case in UG/TZ, Is the french company soo clean? Without measurements which Kenya has provided in favor of it arguments, millions of "interests" can take millions of dimensions to a simple question even on the same, why would Kenyans argue against something that is in their best own interest, same conclusion, ujinga or useless bitterness about tribe that earns nothing, i feel i have to point this out! Let's not argue about some "hidden" interest, declare them!

Dude, haven't you realized you are the one, the ONLY one going on and on about TRIBE, TRIBALISM, TRIBAL?

Aren't you then the PRINCIPAL purveyor?

As if I just created tribalism in Kenya. My theory is why would a Kenyan promote ideas that don't clearly serve their interest? Unless your stupid, why support an adversary, we have planned and sang together for the last 20 years, something that will save us Kenyans billions, why should we spend billions more, yet we keep arguing about the same? Or unless it is waiguru who went to see magufuli and then to france is when you would feel better? It is this "feelings" that mess us up, no reasoning, 'our tribe must always fight garment', all those spying in garment and lying about eurobond from one tribe, you work in garment but first allegiance is to tribe, we are not blind, and they will keep being repeated if not called out, and make people bitter for nothing and fight for nothing after elections. Don't be tribal to such an annoying degree!

There is a thread in the blue section talking about this same oil pipeline. I am one of the people who posted there that it makes sense for Ug to go with Tz and gave reasons for why I think they may have chosen Tz.

I think Masukuma has tried to educate you so I don't think I need to say more about your logic.

What you should have written is; The fact that Uganda is going with TZ does not mean Kenya should lie down and die, we can still build our own pipeline to evacuate our oil. It will be much more expensive, it could even be unviable but as a country, we have to do what we have to do.

Your tribal angle however is vintage you, I have learnt to expect no less regardless of topic.

P.S. I bet I am 100 times more kenyan than you are and I am saying that despite the fact that I don't know you from Adam.

I can only swear, because i have given up reasoning, that it makes no economic sense for TZ and UG to build a separate pipeline with separate company and hence a higher cost per mile to the same place and Kenya to repeat a similar exercise, it's is some kind of utoto and blackmail, it's pointless in business, they will loose out. About my logic, i am ok please, no thanks!

All in all my concern remains a certain clique that takes positions and even "celebrates" and vehemently supports positions which don't auger well for Kenya, and there is a tribal angle to it, a very bitter "spirit of division" if you may say. I will keep mulikaing this bad behavior of fighting what is good for you because of tribe! Simple! One really should be more enthusiastic and support our garment position, not always argue against, other considerations not withstanding, and i insist this is a major problem, when the next attack is made, you observe, it has to be fixed. Celebrating doom for eurobond, sgr, pipeline, people just want doom and gloomy outcomes, ni ugonjwa gani hii!

in like 20 years those pipelines will be like those coffee plantations in central kenya.

In fact kenya should delay construction of the crude pipeline for the longest time, no point doing it right now coz with current crude prices theres very little to make out of it due to too many sharks waiting on the sidelines. ION, Tullow already slapping GoK with sh 150billion bill, quite outrageous if you ask me. We simply don't have strategy. If you don't plan, someone plans for you

Do you do it for now or for the future? Will oil prices rise again?

Oil prices will likely never rise again in future, if you look at the direction the car industry is taking, plus there are more smaller producers coming in whose cost of extracting is high, the saudis and iranians will make sure its just at a level where they make a profit while locking out all the others, and that is the sweet spot of 30-40

Some Kenyans are a funny lot, you bring in alshabab as if the americans and chinese are not getting oil from iraq, oil was and is still flowing from s sudan even when the conflict was at the peak, the same case with angola, heck even the nigerians have a militia those sides where the oil passes.
Once the presidents get involved then its very much a political decision.

@Much Know seems to have failed to appreciate Dr. Ndii's thoughts about how difficult it is to have a healthy nationalist attitude.
