I'm glad that I'm not only striking at the gates of the 'seventh heaven' but going through a thought process, a meditation so to speak, about a matter that's so crucial for many, if not all of us; the foundations of our laws and 'nation state', and by extension, our human being. How heaven and politics meet is one interesting experience that I'm still trying to digest ...

The questions of what happens now that the ICC process has come to an end, the question of rampant corruption and abuse of power, insecurity- a matter that we have taken too superficially perhaps, the nature of our political aspiration and action among others, can't be addressed well enough by looking at them separately alone. They also need a holistic view, and it's this view that I intend to have and share.

But I want to hide and do some work on this while the topic rolls on. Since we've already had some reactions on Ndii's article, let me add this one by Ngugi http://www.nation.co.ke/.../-/13bfxpaz/-/index.html and allow for the most open kind of thinking 'on the willing'.

We delude ourselves to some freedom that is not founded in "our" own norms and cultures as Africans in the sense espoused by Ngugi....and go ahead to erect the foundation of our "nation state" on a constitution that does not resound with the villagers that we are. I posit that We should revisit our village level thought and philosophy to build our nation on. Simply put we ought to internalise the fact that the village is not necessarily backward so to speak but rather the rock on which we should build on.

Before the beginning, there is and was nothing. Then light, then all other things, Man included. That's the order of creation, not through rumor, but through sight.

The light descends through all things, including Man. Ultimately, Man is light. But the problem is that Man is born blind. He has to build up his sense of sight. This building up is the good life. Evil, is being trapped in not seeing the light.

The sense of sight, isn't built on dogma and creed. It's built by method of being, which through the ages, has relied on intelligence and will; both driven by 'non- fear', 'non-ignorance', and 'non-attachment'- Love. This, is a necessity for Man to live the good life. Even for Man to be. It's not about religion.

People and their institutions must adhere to Love in order not only to thrive, but to be human. Intelligence, will and love, form the spirit behind positive law, and the State- or any body politic.

When the case is otherwise, then the people and their institutions are corrupt and the good life is impossible for them while they remain corrupt. When a people are illuminated, by way of sense development, they are saved, and partakers of freedom.

Politics is meant to be about relating in intelligence, unfettered will, and love. Otherwise, it's pseudo politics; dirty wars of darkness and futility. For, if all other things are done save building the capacity for light is captive to darkness.

Politicians are a class; if they operate in darkness, not even the most studied, or handsome, or strong, or wealthy can lead the citizen to the good life. And so his laws must be corrupt. He can't promote justice and fairness.

Liberation occurs when any claimant to humanity sees the light, and helps others build their sense of light and the laws enacted by him/her conduce the growth of sense of light. The good citizen works out his sense all the time. This is his/her employment. In a body politic of the free and where there's no corruption, there's no threat of unemployment. No promise for employment.

Thus, the greatest political action is spiritual work and the greatest State is heaven.

William Du Bois explicated your thought and experience in what he termed as 'double consciousness' where the African is torn between two worlds; one with the Euro-centric view and another with an African view. The question then becomes how the African can have an integrated consciousness.

A healthy and integrated consciousness is the rock to build on.
