I am just saying that we know where our bread is buttered... been stung 3 times we kinda know what is good for us (waSapere wa RVP). I struggle to find an opinionated mSapere from RV on these matters - kwanza we have never really benefited from any mSapere from central government. so mwamba ngoma huvuta pande yake! Kila mtu ajipange... we don't even need to be on the winning team (like 2002) we just need to side with these guys and we shall be sawa. the rest can gang up and have a president from another part of the country - ni sawa. And by the way the narrative that a person is responsible for election violence is a bit narrow minded. Ethnic tensions lead to this type of conflict.... having gone through it 3 times we kinda know what causes these tensions. Wengine mjipange...
When tribal strife erupts, Kenyans do not differentiate between RV Kiuks or central Kiuks or between RV Luhyas and western luhya. To them, a Kiuk is a kiuk and Luo is a Luo regardless of whom they support. You are asking emotional people to think logically when they are angry about being betrayed in an election?
As I see it we need to do two things:
1. Our leaders need to commit to free and fair elections. If IEBC reform is needed then let it happen. If Kenyan election results continue to be suspect, then chaos will eventually erupt again if not in 2017 then in 2022 when Ruto is stabbed in the back.
2. We need a new generation of leaders who actively campaign against tribalism. Our current set of leaders thrive on encouraging tribalism.
I do not think number 2 above will happen in my lifetime. But a movement has to start somewhere.
