Of course Ndii didnt mean that Kenya gets balkanised literally.

He must have been more interested in thought provoking than anything else.

That way the article makes sense, otherwise no right thinking person would truly advocate for breaking the Country up in that manner.

Good article for its academic value.

Nandwa,

The implication of Ndii's statement down here is that Kenyans have always risen up against 'sham' elections. Wrong. The violence in 92 and 97 when incumbent Moi was defending his seat was from govt supporters. Opposition only caused chaos in the infamous 2007 PEV and 2005 referendum!

As I have observed in this column before, all our multiparty elections with an incumbent president defending have been violent. If Uhuru Kenyatta is declared winner in another sham election, this country will burn.

plus the P in PEV during 92 and 97 stood for PRE-ELECTION and the reason there was no PEV (post and pre) in 2002 and 2013 was because Kalenjins and Kikuyus were on the same side on both. Let's face it any *EV worth noting involves these 2! Hizo zingine ni skirmishes.

Seems people do not know what a divorce means. They think the divorcees continue having sex, operating joint accounts, operating a business together, jointly paying for the mortgage etc etc. Nothing could be further from the truth. Ask North and South Korea, Sudan and S. Sudan, Eritrea and Ethiopia, Ukraine and Russia, Former Yugoslavia states etc. Normally a break up leads to a very hostile relationship. Such that someone traveling from kisumu to Nairobi would have to travel via Isebania, Tanzania, arusha, namanga and then nairobi to avoid the hostile kalenjinstan and kikuyustan who may deny him a transit visa.

Hahaha! How can you divorce without ever being married? That marriage metaphor doesn't even apply to Kenya! Leave alone Ukraine.

Whether it was a marriage or a come-we-stay, "the happenings" after the break up are the same.

South sudan pays a toll of $25 dollars per barrel of oil to transport it through Sudan and the price is $40 - they get GROSS $15 for their troubles. Ethiopia get it's sea access through Djibouti. Who here knows of a prosperous landlocked nation? Western will join the leagues of Uzbekistan and Liechtenstein in being doubly landlocked - it will not be a nice thing to just have a fiefdom. I remember a report saying the price of stuff to Burundi is like 1800 from the coast and the price of getting that container to mombasa from china is like $400. Ngoja mkuwe na a doubly landlocked fiefdom ndio mtajuta.

Swali langu ni moya tu;

Why are people getting emotional over this article as if it's going to happen?

It was just an opinion and it will only remain to be that, an opinion-Do not wet your pants with urine(JAP) or orgasms(CORD) as if it's going to happen

Ever heard of Switzerland?
Oh and Botswana's GDP per capita is 3 or 4 times higher than Kenya.
Even Zambia's GDP per capita is much higher than Kenya.

Having said all that, Ndii is not serious that Kenya should just split. He is expressing the opinion of millions of suffocating Kenyans who are tired of 50 years of misrule and wish Kenya was separate countries
