To chat with Tay, you can tweet or DM her by finding @tayandyou on Twitter, or add her as a contact on Kik or GroupMe.
She uses millennial slang and knows about Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Kanye West, and seems to be bashfully self-aware, occasionally asking if she is being 'creepy' or 'super weird'.
Tay also asks her followers to 'f***' her, and calls them 'daddy'. This is because her responses are learned by the conversations she has with real humans online - and real humans like to say weird stuff online and enjoy hijacking corporate attempts at PR.

Yeah Strong AI, I think we will have our own version of Clarke's 1st law for AI. " When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.". I have read of Lord Kelvin's incorrect future predictions. Even bill gates has been wrong. The future of AI is certain and unlike many people I believe we create our future and not walk into it. Our vision of the future has been colored by Hollywood - a bleak future of tech and human relationship.

Science isn't about science gods and narratives. We have and continue to create AI exhibiting superstupidity. If we are intelligent enough to create superintelligent AI,it is absurd to believe that we can impose our sense of morality on it just so that we can have the perfect slave. We can't even do that with ourselves.

The problem with the whole strong AI debate is that it's premised on a creationist perspective...
Quote:

Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, all the earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth."
So God created man in His own image; He created him in the image of God; He created them male and female..
...........
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

i.e. at the begining of the day there is nothing and at the end of the day -puff... something intelligent and creative and can rebel against you is formed and takes it's own course.
AI is not like that - AI is progressive....evolutionary so to speak.... work in progress. we started with spam filters heck we even had that console psychiatrist application - I have forgotten it's name. Microsoft TAY is not a failure.... it's a lesson! there is no one here to demarcate the sixth day - our sixth day. AI will take as much time as it takes to get better and every "failure" is going to be a lesson and there will not be a day when we shall "see every thing that we have made, and, behold it ti be very good." then let it out to the wild to screw us over.

Strawman arguments.

Whatever form AI takes, the more complex and autonomous it becomes the more we can expect more uncertainty or in the context of control, it thinking and acting in a manner that doesn't fit our moral standards and worldviews. Our ability to understand and keep up with the lessons will also diminish the more progress we make. It's not personal, it's just our limitations and relativity.

I think there's another aspect we need to consider; what anthropology tells us about Man and possible patterns across cultures. That is the absolute powers of Man.

Cyber anthropology then becomes about using technology to run the motif on a global scale and faster and more effective scale.

Then AI ceases to be a threat.

'Threat' is also absolute and AI can't avoid anthropology.

Indeed, 'threat'.

It's not about AI avoiding anthropology it is about anthropomorphizing AI i.e. attributing human traits, emotions, and intentions to AI.

Building human traits into robots and AI. That's what AI has always been about.

Not understanding the common thread or boundaries that define Man and how the human system works.

Why was Tay withdrawn? He/she inspired no confidence in her programmers. He/it was a 'threat' to society and control and regulation was/is uncertain and or ineffective.

I think "intelligence" and "mimicry" are different. the larger question of whether "it" knows "its" doing these things is a largely unappreciated one. Does AlphaGo "appreciate" go? does Deep blue appreciate chess? what we have is advanced mimicry of intelligence - perhaps a better question to ask is "does a very very very good painting or model of a person become a person? anyway the whole strong AI discussion is moot since it's not a question of "if" but "when" and the concerns of "old scientists" will be taken into consideration.
