Organizational background
The World Food Programme Somalia Programme activities include emergency school feeding and general provision of food to the less fortunate members of the society in Somalia. The WFP Somalia Country Office is based in Nairobi, Kenya.

This position is open to both male and female candidates. Qualified Somali nationals and Female candidates in particular, are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of IT Assistant (System Admin), and over all supervision of the International ICT officer the incumbent undertakes the following responsibilities:
• Provide Helpdesk Management and Technical support to Local Area Network users focusing on achieving the following results:
• Logging of support calls from End Users in to the helpdesk management system.
• Monitoring of call logs to determine the level of occurrence of issues and recommend how best they can be resolved through system /configuration changes or training of end users and recommend the same to the ICT Management for Implementation.
• Ensuring timely resolution of client queries and escalating those that cannot be resolved through the first level support.
• Generating of monthly reports from the helpdesk management system (problems reported, corrective measures taken and escalated cases) and proposing ways of improving IT support to end users.
• Work in the Country Office and travel to field locations and provide first level support to sub offices inside Somalia which includes commissioning and decommissioning VSAT installations, user training and software applications installation and support.
• Assist in the administration of Windows servers, setup and configuration of Antivirus software.
• Assist in installation, maintenance and troubleshooting desktop publishing and Email programs,
• Assist in the maintenance of equipment by carrying out routine tasks such as backing up data, monitoring network and systems performance, servers and peripherals, running systems diagnostics and system optimization, removing viruses and other irrelevant data.
• Assist in the deployment/dissemination of WFP standard material, such as computer hardware and/or software, applications & programs.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
Education: Satisfactory Completion of secondary school education, plus recognized certificates in computers, information technology or in another related electronic communication field.

Experience: At least four years of progressively responsible job related experience in information technology or telecommunications or information management, such as, WAN/LAN networking, operating systems, telephone services, radio unit, web design, registry or similar. Some experience in client support, such as, a Help Desk or User Support Unit, web design team, telephone maintenance service, e-marketing group, hotline, or similar.

Language: Fluency in both written and spoken English; Somali language is an added asset

Knowledge: Training and experience utilizing computers with word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail and other software/hardware courses.

When I tell people where I work, they always ask, how did you get in there?
Did you know someone?
I always say NO.
Coz I never knew anyone.
Its not a big company as such, but everybody thinks you need to know someone to get in.
