How many Kenyan Engineers and Interns are on the SGR

Just out of curiousity. I know we got lots of Biashara Universities offering Mickey mouse degrees. But Just how many Engineering students are having their internships at SGR. Probably non.

There are there, however, all design documents, drawings and manuals are in Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese. I once received shop drawings in Chinese from a contractor for a dam project and wondered "WTF!". Receive with simplicity everything that happens to you.” ― Rashi

I know they take in some.but the pay is so low as they dont like taking them the legal way....you just talk to chinese...they tell you come kesho...payments made like mtu wa mkono....and very low pay.

The ministry of education should have facilitated the internships and dictated what they get paid.... actually, the government can even pay them but ensure that a curriculum is developed where the kenyans will be left to maintain the railway when the chinese are done.... of course under the chinese warranty window.... thereafter, we would only engage the chinese for technical expertise on a very global level otherwise our engineers should be able to handle them if the curriculum is well developed.

None, but I know about 60 Kenya poly engineering graduates working as supervisors and foremen on SGR,Nairobi university should at least, secure some attachments like KIST (kiambu institute) have some civil eng. students on attachment on the steel and pre-stressed concrete factory at Emali, many village polytechnic guys working as casuals, but our engineers missing in action. But as you know there will be some kick backs involved when tender is released for maintainance of railway. So why bother with a local boy who might spill beans later. Deal with offshore accounts and offshore people.

It's obvious from the responses that we don't own the project . It is a Chinese project in Kenya. Once they exit, the project will descent in to disrepair. The term for the SGR phase 1 project once complete will be 5 years in the making.
Surely this is enough time to have all the skills pertaining to railway construction passed on to Kenyans so that they will not only maintain the raillway but also be able to construct the remaining phases.
Can't the fossils at the Engineering Board Of Kenya take lead in developing this country and create jobs? It seems their responsibility doesn't go beyond collecting Engineers registration fee
If the Chinese aint passing on skills, then they ain't any different from the colonialist who wont allow indigenous people practice commercial farming.
I guess you all now understand why our faming practices are still ancient and why Kenya railways is worse than it was 120 years ago
