Updates from Hongkong:

Kenya's National Sevens Rugby Team better known as SHUJAA are raring to go ahead of the Hong Kong Sevens that kicks off this morning.

This is according to Team Manager Newton Ong'alo. The side had training matches against Fiji and France which in his words "went well"

Ong'alo added, "The boys are in good mood. They have got over the slip ups in Adelaide and were raring to go."

Shujaa features in the so called "Africa Flavour" POOL F, and will square off in the preliminary pool group matches against Korea, Zimbabwe and South Africa in that order.

On MATCH DAY ONE; Shujaa plays its opening fixture against Korea at 1.20pm Kenya time today.

ON MATCH DAY TWO; Saturday 27th Match,
Shujaa will play two games in the pool matches.

First they are up against Zimbabwe at 9.32am Kenya time.

They then wind up their group fixtures with a clash against continental rivals South Africa at 1.56pm.

MATCH DAY THREE will be determined by the outcome of the preliminary matches.

Access the complete fixtures list at:

Let the action begin.............

Although they tie with Shujaa on points in the overall standings, South Africa begin as clear favourites in this pool, but Kenya are considered contenders too. Never rule out an upset from one of the 'underdogs' like Zimbabwe and Korea.

@Magigi

the unpredictability of the IRB Sevens World Series is what has made the sport gain popularity.

it is virtually impossible to say who will emerge top in the pools let alone win the main cup.

you saw how USA, previously ranked last in overall standings, shocked every one by reaching the finals in Adelaide? It took the mighty SAMOA to stop them in the finals 38-10!

Clearly Kenya have grand intentions for the Hong Kong 7s!

The second half just started and and Shujaaa are already six tries up, with no reply from the hapless Korea. Kenya lead 34 - 0!

Let's hope the trend continues for the other group games as well.

It's time to take the gloves off: this boys have been a providing a constant stream of disappointments experience notwithstanding.
In Adelaide Kenya was the only country to have gone with the same team all others had a NEW outfit or majority players changed.
SA had four new entrants, Australia had a totally new team, meanwhile our MOST EXPERIENCED boys continue to disappoint.
Benja we all know you take a cut from the allowances given to the guys, and this forms the backbone on who goes and does not make it to the team. 40k per trip surely 10k each that's a bit too much don't you think??
Collins Injera, stop playing for the money, passion is what it takes and needed at that high level don't ask yourself why your trials in SA were not successful.

Over to you folks am tired of this cartel called 7's rugby, lets find another hobby!! lebron and the :title my bet is on them!! or better still our tried and tested athletes are featuring this weekend ans Kenenisa is not featuring this might bring a plentiful bounty this time round!!

The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

...have just watched the Shujaa against Koreans. Well, we won...but these are boys we could have thrashed 100-0 looking at the way they played. Anyway there is Zibwabwe to flog before the match gets tighter in the next round. Beat S.Africa, I doubt...but I am sure we will move on theto the next round for the cup contention...

Am not a rugby fun and quite frankly i dont even know how its played or even the rules of the game. But this thread has got me thinking and perused through the irb site. Kenya is ranked way below south africa. Hata Uganda are ahead.

http://www.irb.com/rankings/full.html

Whats the criteria of the rankings and how comes hawa mashujaa wako chini hivyo?. Or does it have anything to do with rigging (Form 16 A Stylo)

Did yu also check the sevens rankings......Kenya is tied with S.Africa at number 5.

Shame on you Those calling for Ayimba's neck, do yu also realize that SA won the sevens circuit last year yet are now tied with Kenya at no. 5 this season????

Only Kenya has players who are fulltime rugby players

...after this weekend, we will never smell South Africa anywhere near ( I should be able to eat back my words on monday...) I am not sure how Ayimba is paid, but if what someone mentioned is how he gets his paycheck, that is dead wrong... Having said that, we need young and new players in the team. Will the Kayanges play till they are 50!!!

@McReggae, that score does not mean the game was easy. I thnk zim gave Kenya a run for their money only that they made too many mistakes which they got punished for.

South Africa will not make those mistakes. Is it only me? But I saw like fatigue had already started catching up with the boys, they did not look as swift they did against Korea. I hope these guys didnt hang out last night!

South Africa here we come!

Shua Ben, SA does not look sharp either, Zim threatened to tear them apart jana!!!!!!......the sevens is not predictable these days, dont be surprised if we get an unexpected winner in Hong Kong!!!!!
