Not to mention the thousands of jobs that will be lost now that Mama samosas, caterers, have been rendered jobless. Remember the uproar by the hotel industry in kenya when govt banned holding meetings in hotels. Thousands would have lost jobs. Magufuli is being very short sighted.

People are laughing at this guy telling him to form institutions even Adrea Bondh*** said the same. Look in Kenya they have EACC which goes about to investigate parliament and they are cowed down by the same. So what is the purpose of going there , spending money on those brown hardcovered report books and then Muturi calls it sh**t .Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

@hardwood, Are you okay? Wastage is good for the economy? If we all wasted our profits and salaries the economy would be booming?

This Magufuli is doing a good job, wish he was my president. By leading from the fore, the rest will follow or have to follow.I wish him all the best.

South Korea and Singapore, strong-willed leaders brought their countries from third world status to first world in less than 50 years.

Here, we've been stuck in the same shit hole.

Rwanda's economy is quite small compared to Kenya's but they don't have as many potholes and garbage mountains like we do. Reason, good use of resources, little wastage of resources as well as minimal corruption.

What we have in Kenya is freedom.A lot of it. Freedom to be and be seen to be stupid.

I think eventually you need systems in place, but in the region you need a dictator like Magufuli to kick start the cleaning up part but hope that he strengthens institutions as he goes along.

In Kenya the change was too drastic, and you expect some issues, but the thing is to persist with it, and ride out the dictators, the bigger than life individuals who feel they are too big and in the end some good will come out.

Otherwise you end up with a Libya scenario, where after the one who was forcing through development is taken out you crumble very fast.

true, while its all good to ban anything he deems excessive, if he does not move with the same vigor to steady the institutions it will all come to zero work.

I think he is of the school of thought that the more you save the more you become richer since your bank account has more cash.

He needs to move that energy into delivery, stop focusing too much on expenditure and corruption and focus on service delivery and a decent life for his people, after that the people will deal with expenditure and corruption.

Saving and investing makes one rich.

Where do you think he should get the funds to deliver services and give decent lives?
He cancelled celebrations and directed those funds in improving conditions at one of the hospitals, what do you call that?

Without all the corruption and wastage we have here, how many Thika Roads, JKIA new terminals, dams, hospitals, stadia etc etc.
Wouldn't that mean better service delivery and better lives?

Also think about Michael Sata....He came in with psych but he died(literally). Don't get me wrong, we all need a Magafuli to sort out the mess. I also agree that while doing so he should also be setting up institutions (red tape) to make it hard to waste

No I was using Qaddafi to show that, if a strong man does not strengthen institutions despite the developments he initiates and the good thing he does for the citizenry, once he is gone (through whichever means) chaos is more likely to erupt since there are no structures in place.
