Not quite. I think he 'lent' the firm money at crazy rates. The 'lent' is in parentheses because it reminds me of Michael Matu & his games at Olympia. He would borrow money from an Olympia subsidiary then lend money to Olympia. During the Rights Issue, he converted 'loans to Olympia' into shares in Olympia!
So MM borrowed from Olympia. Lent to Olympia. Then converted the loans to Olympia into shares in Olympia. He never repaid Olympia for the loans he took. Then there was the big scam in SA where MM owned the shares in the SA firms but funded by Olympia!

Bottomline: Only MM (& family) benefitted. The same is/will happen to Express.
