He'd now be nearing the end of his 2nd term as rais. How would a Baba presidency have been? Maybe that is one thing that would have healed our politics that's always polarised between the mountain and the lake. Also the US and UK/EU would have been kissing our feet and billions of dollars & pounds would have flooded our economy pushing Ksh to 40 bob vs USD. And now in dec 2015, we'd be looking for baba's successor. Hustler would have been no 2 and therefore we'd be looking at a Looto presidency in 2017.

its good that you first aknowledge that not enough voters voted for babu. am sorry to note that your "what if" is totally out of order because i can only compare it to asking us a rediculous question like what if star wars was real which robot would you prefer R2D2 or C3PO
Politics is just things to keep the people divided and foolish and put your trust in men and none of them can do nothing for you...

Don't think we would be any better. 'How can a mere raiyaa give ultimatums to an elected govt to provide accounts in 2wks'? Would be the reaction at a time such as this.

'What if we ALL voted Baba in 2007?' That's the question you're asking. Or is it, 'What if Baba won the 2007 elections, and actually took office?'

Well, Baba took an office . . .

But why this question? Why not 2013? Why not earlier?

This question, in addition to raising the favorite bogeyman of anti Baba forces, that Baba is the worst catastrophe that could befall Kenya, makes the assumption that a Baabaa led government would have been different because it was led by Baba - contrary to the anti Baba canard that it would be a zombie, sheeplike dictatorship, full of pomp and pageantry but devoid of any substance whatsoever. Maybe so, but we have wasted greater opportunities and also survived worse leadership, to wit:

1. 24 years of Moi's managerial incompetence, brought the country close to the edge but did not sink us

Secondly:

2. Don't over estimate the power of a President - much will happen despite him.

3. In fact the primary job of a President in Kenya today is to serve as the common whipping boy that we can all happily unite around and kick.

The only thing I would dare predict is that if Baba became President:

a) He would end up being as miserable as his predecessors have been. Kenyans are a terrible lot to lead, with their whining and 'serikali saidia' mentality....

b) We would see a boom in the comedy industry

The employer has been catching the employee leaving the windows open so the mosquitoes fly in and out as they please, washing dishes and clothes even sukuma wiki with lots of soap lather but not rinsing properly, putting too much oil in the githeri etc. The employer insists he is good in opposition to catch the employee, which he is evidently good in, so will retain the status quo so he can continue his good oversight role over the employee, which he is evidently good in.
