@Kaigangio, whats important is whether this Onyango educated his kids, include that in the story. That is the real legacy one leaves behind.

Accumulating wealth, esp. those plot 10's is absolute nonsense.

But please do tell how this tale ends, I bet the Kiuk who made all the right decisions in life ends up smelling like roses.smile smile

@ Obi 1 Kanobi..I'll narrate a sad stori of some kiuk family i know..the Dad millionaire by age 30, 2 wives and 11 children and none educated to university level, only i think 2 - 3 at college ( outcome 1 teacher)...so wats the whole point of saving if u cant give best education to ur children? the struggle this family is undergoing now that the old man passed on very poor as none of his kids wanted to join him in farming as his dictatorial tendencies drove all kids away..i her now case is in court for who to admnister the estate and believe u me some kids dont even want that 1 acre..they are happy hustling on their own!....so someone tell me which is more important? saving only to brag to ur peers or educating ur kids in best education money can afford?????Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

@Mseto. I disagree in the knowledge that levels of education among “these people” are on average very impressive relative to the situation among many other communities. What may be true is perhaps their obsession with particular courses generally perceived to be relatively more lucrative. But what a hilarious thread!

We Luos beat Kikuyus in education. This is a fact.In fact my Gem constituency has produced more professors than Nyeri county and the number of people educated to Masters level in serious disciplines in Gem constituency is over 5,000.Kiambu county has only 70 masters graduates.

I have looked at the websites of public universities and i have seen more okuyo professors than luo. Also the first male PhD holder in kenya was Dr Kiano while first female PHD was Prof Maathai, both agikuyus. Eri nia nyumba nduriri ino. Urohia nda ugicunga!
FYI when i was at the university ('The'), i beat all the luos in my class. So how can luos be said to beat okuyos in education?

Nonsense!

It seems another thing your constituency has produced is (at least one) over fed ego.

Kiambu County has only 70 Masters graduates? How did you manage to count that high?

reminds me of a certain recording of a phone conversation on radio.... it goes something like this
Quote:

Caller: Wakila?
Radio guy (who we shall refer to as Walika): Eh Uncle!
Caller: Hivi!
Wakila: Eh!
Caller: Kati ya pesa na akili... wewe utachagua kitu gani?
Walika: Pesa na nini?
Caller: Na Akili!
Wakila: Akili zipi sasa? Kwa maana kuna akili nyingi hapo! au unasema akili za shule weweeee?
Caller: Eh!
Wakila: Ahhhh! Kati ya Akili na Pesa?
Caller: Eh!
Wakila: Hapo (reflects)....Kwa mimi hapo... lazima nitachagua Pesa!
Caller: Wachagua nini?
Wakila: Mimi lazima tu nichague pesa! Akili ni za nini?
Caller: Makubwa kweli kweli!
Wakili: Ukubwa wake nini sasa... kwani wewe utachagua nini? Wewe Akili na pesa unachagua nini?
Caller: Mimi nachagua akili!
Wakila: Akili?
Caller: Ehh!
Wakila: Akili sawa!.....si kila mtu anachagua kitu ambacho yeye hana?
Caller: Nini?
Wakila: Kila mtu anachagua kile kitu ambacho hana! mimi nimechagua pesa kwa sababu sina pesa mimi
Caller: Wewe unamaanisha mimi sina akili?
Wakila: Kaka? Kwani nimekuchagulia? Si umechagua mwenyewe?
