What is the difference between the christian people's crusade and the radicalized Islamist jihadist? The difference is that both were radicalized by religion

Christianity is 2000 years old while Islam is 1400 years. The radicalized Jihadist are doing what the radicalized crusaders did 1000 years ago.

In 1000 years to come, there will be a radicalized version of Hamburglar who will be killing all the Christians, Jews, Muslims in the name of atheism!

Like Tycho said, ISIS has everything to do with Islam just like Peoples crusades had everything to do with Christianity but NOT the FAITH of Islam or Christianity!

Both the Jihadist and the crusaders are/were fighting the "Holy" war of intolerance!

Were the crusades based on scripture or are you mixing issues?

How Islamic is Islamic State group? Not very, experts say

Quote:
Part of the problem in countering the group's ideology is that moderate clerics have struggled to come up with a cohesive, modern interpretation, especially of the Quranic verses connected to Muhammad's wars with his enemies.

...

And while moderate clerics counter the Islamic State group's interpretation point-by-point, at times they accept the same tenets.

Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb — the grand imam of Egypt's Al-Azhar, one of Sunni Islam's most prestigious seats of learning — denounced the burning of the Jordanian pilot as a violation of Islam. But then he called for the perpetrators to be subjected to the same punishment that IS prescribes for those who "wage war on Islam" — crucifixion, death or the amputation of hands and legs.

'Moderate' clerics seeking 'modern interpretations' still accept crucifixion, executions and amputations to be Islamic.

Authority, interpretation and application of Islamic teachings is the issue. Muslims may choose to live their lives how they wish but it is Islam that defines a muslim not the other way around. It will become clear that no one can change Islam without undermining it. Watch what happens as the clerics cherry pick what fits into the 'modern interpretation' of Islam.

What would you say about the wars led by King David, Deborah and Barak? Crusades were sanctioned by the Catholic church

The wars were temporary. The crusades were unbiblical. That is not the case with Islam.

According to Islam,Muhammad is a good example and his words and actions are meant to be a guidance for mankind till the return of Allah when the world will be Islamic.

Just a slight correction: Till the return of Jesus Christ the Messiah (pbuh)

Just heard something in the media that gave me an epiphany that kinda hit me like a train - the suspected mastermind of the shooting a one 'Abdelhamid Abaaoud' according to the father "was not a difficult child and became a good businessman. But suddenly, he left for Syria" How many times have we heard this? Over and over and over again!! Reminds me of Steven Weinberg's saying "With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."... The lesson going forward... you should not bother with the people we know as being "bad"... the ones who disturb their parents or the ones who were difficult or the ones who were sleeping with girls/boys around or smoking (both big and small) and taking alcohol in rebellion while growing up or in their early adult life... KEEP AN EYE ON THE REALLY RELIGIOUS PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN GOOD ALL THEIR LIVES!! THOSE KESHA GOING PEOPLE, THOSE GOOD MUSLIMS THAT OBEY EVERYTHING... THOSE ARE THE FUTURE NUT CASES!!

I guess the greedy and power hungry are excused.Laughing out loudly

Those are the ones that stand to benefit... they are the dog that is wagging the tail. The tail is the bunch of good people who quickly go to the darkside

I have an alternative view which I think is also valid. The above lesson is half the story hence incomplete. The bad guy has a brief moment of clarity and thereafter his Damascus road moment. He 'reforms' and delves into his long neglected religion with gusto. He 'discovers' more exciting truths and maxims that gives him a higher rush of adrenaline more than his previous thug life. Truths like arms, weapons, bombs, jihad. His propensity for 'activity' makes him the ideal guy for the suicide run.

I think I'm vindicated.

Oman Abaaoud was "relieved" his son was dead. Gallant made a point to say he is not glad, but is relieved. Omar Abaaoud, who lives in Morocco, told Gallant he thinks his son was a psychopath and a devil.

We miss the secular Iraq.

the secular Middle East was 'working'.... all these 'democracy' killed it! Israel will go nutty... the arabs will go nutty... the russians will go nutty, the europeans will go nutty and if you put trump in there - the americans as well and when everyone is nuts... WELL IT WILL NOT BE PRETTY!

The good Pope calls it WWIII.

how would a WWIII with its focal point in Syria affect Kenya, could those nuclear bomb fumes reach kenya, though Putin seems logical - whether its out of fear or just being considerate.
