Chunga sana with that talk of a ruthless president. Mobutu was ruthless against corruption, then he stole all the money and land for himself! Now resource rich Congo is the poorest country in the world by many measures

Similarly Mao was ruthlessly demanding of his subordinates. As they struggled to obey his commands, farmers were forcefully recruited to execute Mao's plan to improve China. 25 million people died of starvation in the resulting food shortage

This idea of ruthless presidents should make guys like Harrydre vote for Nkaissarey

What the hell does that even mean? Ruthless president? What does it mean.

A president should follow the law at all times.

All we want to see is someone going to court and his case being logically completed. Not stories about hating corruption, working on corruption and even being "ruthless". Just the law. Simple
Thieves are not good people. Tumeelewana?

Watch the video and you will know why we need a ruthless president, just one.

Of the 350billion kenya loses annually to corruption, over 75% is at the low levels. If only govt focussed on the small fish (since they won’t touch the big ones) we’ll still go far.

But the mere thought by a suspect that they will be put to jail together with other criminal convicts is enough to make them spend a fortune to get the best lawyers (who end up intimidating the jury and junior lawyers for the state). If all this fails, the suspects end up bribing the jury,. And the jury is more likely to get sympathetic when they think of the ragtag conditions in jail…

So methinks that….since these corruption cases will continue at massive scale, we should build special prisons for those small and medium fish convicted of corruption crimes. The prisons for this class should be a bit humane, but all the same they should be put in solitary confinement…This way, plus other measures, we might win the war…

why special prisons for them? problem is that most kenyans (including you unfortunately) think that corruption is a lesser crime. such a lesser crime that those guilty of it should be treated differently. start by changing your mindset on corruption - it kills by the way.

Do not include me in that bracket. Corruption is evil and can’t compare with other crimes. Imagine if there was no corruption, kenya could be at the level of Malaysia today. So the corrupt have caused all this suffering, what other crime can be equal to that? On mind shift that’s what we’re discussing, what can we really do so that it becomes a norm to send these to jail rather than the exception? And the problem is not the common kenyan on the street, its the system - executive, legislature, judiciary--they all conspire by design or default to defeat justice as far as this matter is concerned

i put you in that bracket because you want them to be treated better than other criminals - by putting them in better/special prisons. that shows that in your opinion they are some better/special kind of criminals.

a good start is that magistrate who gave a cash bail of 8 million. seeing how their advocates were arguing (that other people charged with corruption have not been given such high terms; that other more serious crimes do not attract such high terms) makes one see just how we have looked at corruption as a small matter and a game.

Laughing out loudly Your ‘putting’ m in the bracket is inconsequential, where is the bracket itself?
On a serious note, there is a mistaken belief an unwritten rule that jails are not for the elite in white collar jobs. Whether ICC or local. Hence even judiciary will be compromised. Kamlesh would rather go to hospital than to jail. So long as status quo remains, you aren’t going to see any big time corrupt persons go to jail..ION, Jubilee proposing death penalty for the corrupt..sounds good at face value but …

Kamiti is good enough for the economic criminals, their brokers plus all the accountants, auditors and public officials who look the other way.

Waste of funds, I propose public whipping, sharia style and eventual public execution, no more people will repeat.

For a special prison, this will be like s day school where the corrupt reside during the day and go back to their comfortable home at night

In fact it will be a place for crafting even more grand Schemes as they share notes.

I don't think we are appreciating how messed up we are as a country. The law alone can't fix the problem.

When mungiki threatened to overrun the country 10 years ago, kibaki, his gentle mien not withstanding, decided to fight it dirty. The blood bath that followed in mt.kenya was horrifying but necessary.

Now is the time. Suppose a hit squad started eliminating these idiots who are filling injunctions in court one by one. Gichuru, Okemo, that cfo from nairobi county........

Corruption would disappear within 90 days.

And I assume you expect the same police force that protects the well off to execute such an order?

Hit the corrupt where it hurts through mandatory seizure of assets. Taking away the wealth and the influence is a bigger punishment.
