It is a total of 6 days of strike. Will that boost KQ revenues? I suspect KQ does 60% load factor, so filling up the balance on a 777 is about 100 seats, not much, unless they adjust their fares upwards. Remember that 60% BA long haul flights will operate normally, so there is a good chance the Nbo route will be unaffected. My conclusion - insignificant.

There will be no much interruptions because the level of preparedness by BA is very high. And they have hired aircraft from 8 rival carriers including crew members. Even rivals dont want BA to collapse because the union will grow horns and target their employees as well eg virgin atlantic

Erm, I said a 'small' windfall... not a paradigm shift... [Just wanted to use that phrase]

Actually, even if BA does not cancel NBO-LHR... I think some travelers would prefer KQ/VA coz of 'certainty'... I am not sure how profitable LHR-NBO is but the 60% must include the most profitable routes...

I support BA... coz we saw what happened at KQ last year... the union being funny does not help any airline even if it's your competitor...

I just listened to this http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8576003.stm from a BA snr cabin crew and you can feel the pain of taking decisions with a herd mentality. I concur that in hard times striking is not the way to go and at the end of the day, BA will be the loser. However, those who want to go to work should not be intimidated by their colleagues because when at the end of the end the job is gone the union will not pay for the bills. At the beginning of 2009 I had to accept a pay-cut though i had a negotiated work contract courtesy of the recession. At that point in life i had to listen to the voice of reason.
I support BA!!!!
