Postal Corporation of Kenya unveils plans to venture into matatu business. Signs of an MD who's lacked ideas. "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. The problem is you hope when you should fear & fear when you should hope: - Jesse Livermore .

not a bad idea to tame lawless matatus that are currently operating. In Germany, Deutsche Bahn( German Railway Company) used to enjoy Monopoly in the Transport sector. That made them arrogant and they began charging whatever amount they they deemed fit for them. However, Since two years ago, this sector has been liberalised and more buses are now plying the very same routes that Deutsche Bahn plys but charging way much less than DB. Deutsche Post( German Post Corporation) also got into the Transport Business and they are doing very fine. I guess that is where the MD of Postal corporation borrowed his idea from. If they charge less than the current market Price, be sure of them taking the market by storm.

I no longer believe anything GOK related any more. First, it might just an avenue of another mega scandal and/or second, it will never kick off.

same guys who were unable to run cyber cafes, out competed by matatu saccos in parcels courier, can't come up with a "mail to door" system, can't grow a bank that is exempt from income tax??? Life is short. Live passionately.

If history is any guide, this is another bad trajectory - we need to leap forward. Posta's competition should be found in more advanced economies than us, not the 14-seater ... I'm in sync with @alma1 & @sparkly @FullyKenyan -- I doubt taming the matatus is the priority here. More of raising side cash for Posta's operations (video description on youtube) Let's wait and see

Signs of an MD who's lacked ideas. That is the dumbest decision ever. Does the ceo understand posta's mandate?

The best way to eat govt money is to come up with 'projects'. And since they cant build more post offices, why not venture into an area allegedly within their mandate - transport. So this will involve buying 100 buses at 50m each, that's 5B. A 10% kickback is 500m, and everyone will end up happy. Except wanjiku who will guarantee the loan and after the transport business collapses will have to repay the loan. Will even involve floating a bond to pay the outstanding loan that will be due for payment.

Dumbest manager; He should have studied and learnt lessons from Japan Post. Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

Maina Kageni's publicity stunt that rides on the feeble backs of dying children has more goodwill from Kenyans than a state corporation seeking to do legitimate business. All such state bodies should be encouraged, no, cut loose to be innovative to stay afloat on their own. It's better than fundraisers.

Nothing materialized out of this right? What about making is possible to deliver goods by having proper office and home addresses? Surely one determinant of e-commerce success has to have a working postal service. Or maybe selling off Posta will be more beneficial to the country....does anyone know if Posta is one among those govt parastatals that will be sold off?
