My bank has written to me telling me they have increased my monthly loan repayment from 70k to 100k starting next month. Eti the increase was necessitated by increased government borrowing that has pushed the interest rates to 27pc, and the weakening of the shilling. Why the hell shouldn't i be very angry with this jubilee that is messing up my life?

Unrelated to the topic on the thread... I thought banks increase the repayment period rather than monthly repayment amount in cases of increased interest rate?

Its the same.

Thanks for the clarification

Yes. You end up repaying the same increased loan amount. Coz of jumbiree

2011/2012 whatever happened to economy was it Jumbiree?

Middle class problems, you take out a loan, enjoy it and when it comes to pay you start shouting the government is messing you.

Achana nao. They need patience, Save buy a plot, save again and build. Mortgages is a rip. Next election they will find time to vote since they just make noise here and never show up to vote. !

They want to reach to actualisation without first having basic needs. Get a job/business today. By year end they want to have a big house a big car and have a lot of cash remaining to enjoy lavishly. So what do you do? Take up as many huge loans as possible. Bank loan sacco loan credit card, salary advance even Shylock. Stress of paying back in redirected elsewhere; the government. Slow but sure.

We are not in a closed economy for heavens sake. Even the great depression happened, many middle class went down, some survived but they recovered. Take heart.

Pilot says plane is passing thro some uncomfortable and unforeseen turbulence, air line owner says no cause for alarm everything under control. I like pilot's honesty. However, we know that modern surveillance systems can help pilot plan the route well in advance hence avoid turbulent regions. This confirms what we're saying here. Even if air line owner can't admit reality so as not to loose customers, we need action not burying our heads in the sand

Sensible to tax the loot, since it seems the loot is already legalized.

Quote:
The CEO Catherine Namuye in collusion with a senior board member and other senior managers are said to be deeply involved in the scheme that has seen the Fund lose Sh180.9 million in two months between February and April.

On Saturday, the chairman of the Board of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund Mr Bruce Odhiambo said he had travelled to Nigeria and will comment when he returns to Kenya.

According to the documents, Ms Namuye on February 11 wrote to Mr Ken Ouko, the director of business development asking him to transfer Sh115,710,000 to Quarandum Ltd “for consultancy services rendered.”
