If as a president you give directives to spend tax money on socialist type expenses e.g nys, laptops, putting electricity in grass thatched huts, paying school and exam fee for everybody including those who can afford, paying maternity fee for everybody including those who can afford, dishing money to youths in guise of uwezo when there's no guarantee they will pay back, etc, then you gotta tell us where you'll get money to pay salaries and debts

Let me assume that you are mido class who do not need government services. You take your kids to private international schools are therefore do not care about the millions who cannot afford to pay school fees, you have medical cover for your family and therefore your wife will not die while trying to give birth at home, you have enough assets that you can give as collateral for the bank loans and you have enough for your family to download movies, play online games and steam football games.
Let me remind you something Kenya is a poor third world country where millions live in less than a dollar per day.
1)Education-We have crazy gaps in our society between the haves and the have not.One of the key drivers that will bridge this gap is education.Education means enlightenment and equal opportunities for all.
2)Health:For citizens of a country to be productive then they must be healthy. Our children need not die from curable diseases. Our mothers needs not die while giving birth. We have lost so many family members and friends in terminal diseases such as cancer.A serious government must invest heavily in getting the right equipment, facilities and personnel in health.
3)Power:Power is a key driver in the economy.Affordable power means better lighting in our streets, more secure environment and hence 24 hr economy.Power is also a key input in the production industry. The lower the cost of power, the lower the cost of production and the more competitive our products.

The about are key investment that any sane government needs to make. The investment in the above is huge and citizens will reap the benefits in the long-run.
The government must however deal with corruption and wastage so that they can gain public trust which they have lost because nothing seems to be done about the rampant corruption and wastage.

The project must be fast tracks so that the citizens can start seeing the benefits of the sacrifices that they are making. That the government both central and devolved is utilizing the little resources prudently.

The citizens need also to be informed about the opportunities in investing in the government treasury bills and bonds rather than the opportunities benefiting only going to foreigners and a few middle class.

The high interest rates have made the dollar to weaken against the shilling and we are likely to see sub 100 before the end of the year.
In the mean time the citizens needs to minimize imports as we await the shilling to strengthen.

No one in my family is voting so I've done my part. We won't until we see candidates we can believe in.

Hawa wako hapa wote sio watu I can even think of voting for or against.

You are part of the problem because you are not part of the solution. If you tell us not to vote how do you help this country. If you feel you have better leadership qualities tan the cordashians or the JAPanese why not offer yourself for leadership ama kazi yako ni kubitch tu without tangible solutions. There is difference between you,Itumbi,Alai and the 36 bloggers.

My friend, who do you want me to vote for.

Uhuru? No way.
Raila? No way.

Since those are the only two I know going to compete in 2017 right now, I shall not vote.

I'm not voting for these two or anyone in the current gov't system. From MCA, MP, all the way to President. In fact, if you have ever been anywhere near gov't I shall not vote for you.

Unless of course your party comes up with a viable candidate for me to choose from.

It is not my work to help the country. That's the work of the gov't. Right now hiding 53billion Euros somewhere in the ether doesn't sound to me like helping.

I do not have to run for any political seat because I do other things I like to do better. I know I'd make a horrible politician so I'd rather help my country doing the things I'm best at.

It is my work to vote or not vote my conscience. And its very clear. I'd rather die than wake up at 5am in the morning to line up for people who end up lining up their tummys.

Fair enough. We actually need horrible politicians to run this country.people who are professionals and have the best interest of this country at heart.People who are tired of mediocrity and yearns for real progress. The reason of where we are is because the good people do not run for political offices and we live it to the bad guys. Then the good guys spend the next 5 years complaining why we have poor leadership and they never offered themselves for leadership positions.

Peter, sk no point arguing if you deliberately choose to misunderstand the point. On health&education , let's hep the needy, but not those who can afford. It's for govt to figure out how to do it. On electricity, let's empower people first before connecting, so they can help repay the cost of infrastructure. On laptops, let's give helb to university students first before giving laptops. Simple lessons in economics, if you can't see the point I withdraw my comment for your sake

Actually PeterReborn, its not the politicians I don't like. After all why blame them, they were elected by their own people.

I believe that the Kenyan voter is to blame. We shout a lot but vote these people in. So my solution is simple, I'll not join the Kenyan voter in his continuous self flagellation.

I don't blame the leadership, I blame the voter. The Kenyan. So forgive me if I'm apathetic to their problems.

First of all you should know that I agree there is a problem with current running of gvt. While you're complaining, I am looking at actual possible causes. Trying to see if the past & present behavior of opposition leaders is better and I find it ain't. What can a President do to a "suspect"? ....suspend (full stop) Its the Courts that do Give verdict to cases before them. Our activist courts,Corrupt judges and an " autonomous judiciary" Evidence is to come from several other key personnel, institutions and the prosecutor has a role. Coupled with political bondage of " our own is targeted ".These many parties involved (monkies) who collude are no easy task for President. The President like any other CEO can have surbodinates who let you down seriously and their overhaul every now and then is met with a lot of political and legal resistance. In the current opposition and gvt I see veeery few individuals to rely on. I would like someone to point out what they'll do IF they were appointed President today. Sometimes talking is easier than doing when put on that seat.

There goes someone who goes beyond scratching the surface. You understand our current scenario all too well and you ain't posting to make numbers. The institutions we created needs an overhaul. The president led the debate on Wage bill many months ago but that's the furthest he could go with activist constitution.

Last year, we were told that the Sh289 billion ($2.75 billion) Eurobond loan would stop government borrowing from domestic markets, thereby helping drive down interest rates.
Today, interest rates are at their highest in more than a decade, inflation has gone haywire, the government is broke and nobody is talking about Eurobond.

Yeah, Eurobond, sirkal. Hiyo pesa ilienda wapi?
