In such a scenario I will compare the PBT in 2014 versus 2015.
Profit before tax grew by 208.99% from ksh.4.158bn to ksh.8.69bn.
Profit after tax depends on your arrangement with mr.taxman.
Mr, market due to his sluggish nature may not take into consideration the jump in profits hence the share price may not show a significant appreciation.
For the upcoming rights issue it may not be held this year due to gava being too broke to defend its stake unless they convert the debt into equity.
Upcoming rights issue may hold back any meaningful share price appreciation.
Good dividend though.

Massive dilutive rights issue here we come. Who releases very rosy news in a bear market? 65cts to be paid out as dividend out of EPS KES 5.24. What a joke! Now I strongly prefer KPLC.

NAV(After revaluation of PPE & before expected dilution) = 64.4
PER at todays closing price of KES.8.3(pre dilution)= 1.58

The good news is that Kengen is a cashflow cow and GOK has been doing the heavy lifting by guaranteeing the loans from development partners.

The only problem with this and KPLC is That shareholders are down the pecking order of benefit. I'd have expected a better dividend from this performance ala wtk cc @hisah.

I don't understand why they are paying divs yet they need money.

PR. KenGen should NOT be paying dividends but it looks good in the public's eye (& the thousands of shareholders) if they do. Compare to Centum where Kirubi doesn't care about dividends as the shareholder list is much smaller.

I don't have info on the former until the Annual Report comes out. Not sustainable/repeated.
