Interesting talks on the future of education - quite thought provoking... we are actually on the cusp of shifts in movements of what valuable education should be about. If you think about it - everyone agrees that we are teaching our kids wrong, we are 'testing' them wrong. e.t.c

Quote:
A Nairobi court has ordered striking teachers to go back to class immediately.

Judge Nelson Abuodha asked the government and the teachers' unions to resolve the pay dispute within 90 days.

He directed the Teachers Service Commission not to victimise the teachers over the strike that has been running since August 31.
- From Daily Nation.

Coming from the same media house those two statements do not entirely mean the same thing.

We could also ask when an education is valuable.

Teachers to be paid September salaries but the increase in salaries to be decided through arbitration.

Teachers seems very happy with decision.

Tomorrow will be exactly one month without learning in public schools? Wah! This government has failed flat on its stomach.

You take schools too seriously, most people would do ok with nursery schooling only.

And you are one of those pursuing an MBA at THE and online course on leadership at UNISA

Laughing out loudly wacha I laugh at myself, but seriously most jobs can be done by guys whose highest education level is nursery, just look at what you do and think about it.

We are jokers, the teachers are ordered back to class for now, this thing is forgotten for now and next year we will be back at it again with sossion saying the arbitration was not honored.

The government should ka ngumu with the new term dates and give teachers new contracts clearly stipulating promotion terms and salary increment procedures.

Do the courts operate in vacuum. How do you order teachers back to class yet the MOE closed all schools and revised the term dates??? A matter which is also partly in court????

Did the court order the government to open public schools as well? Or what are teachers expected to go do.
