Mr Muturi termed the proposals poorly worked out, populist in nature and aimed at unnecessarily exciting the teachers....

The voting is itself idiotic hence produces the idiots.

Ours is a fatally defective system in the name of democracy.....the new constituion made it worse. There's no way to check unbridled greed that is endemic from early childhood through schooling system where anything goes.

Kenyans including some supposedly intelligent wazuans have decided that tribe is their primary factor to be considered when voting. As long as this system continues do not expect any issue to be solved be it corruption, crime, safety, security or even unemployment.

Kenya is the only country I know of in Africa where a person's tribe is the only determinant of how people vote. You said it right. We Kenyans are pure idiots.

Very true. But even within the tribe idiocy abounds. The systems here are inherently corruptible for instance since parliament became the best paying employer and politics the surest road to legalised corruption it doesn't matter who is elected first within the tribe and secondly nationally. Compound this with the sick mentality of seeing governments a source of largee for all to steal (legally) as the political class is perfecting. Emasculating the presidency in turn emasculated the only hope to turn the tide.

Never looked at it this way. But based on experiences I have had, your are right to a large extend

Very true and very very depressing! These googles(sp) of tribe will kill us..They blind even guys with an IQ close to 140. I experience it in office everu time when an issue touching 'some people's own' comes up. The debate suddenly changes and sometimes becomes very emotive.
So as long as 'one of our own' still makes sense, we will never move ..

Not true. Almost nobody votes on issues. How come our leaders are not even worried about addressing issues like crime, unemployment, security, poor health services, poor infrastructure, too much traffic, poor housing, wage bill, corruption the deficit etc etc.

Believe me if we were an issue based electorate, the president would be busy addressing these issues and he would not be keeping corrupt people in his cabinet.

And how come tribal chiefs are still the main election contenders ?

If the three tribes you mentioned are the only guilty ones then the rest of the ethnic groups should rise up and elect an issue based leader.

As I see it, the 1st president of Kenya (Jomo kenyatta) created a culture of tribalism which has been perpetrated by every president since then.

It is Jomo Kenyatta who created the culture of pitting tribe against tribe so he and his inner circle could steal land and raid the treasury while the peasants were fighting.

Now 50 years later, the politicians are still eating while the distracted public is still fighting each other and insulting each other on twitter and facebook.
