smile For which month? .....It's 21st Sept, 2015!!!

August .See it in yesterday's Star.

ION, Ababu files a motion to cut salaries of Mpigs,PORK,DPORK,senators, governors, judges and commissioners by 50% to pay teachers......errrr.

Yes let that happen and if your caught stealing you get shot...

The judges will know decisions have consequences. But the issue is not even getting te money to pay the teachers, its getting the money to pay the harmonized civil service wage. If teachers get a hike the others have to be harmonized upwards, at that rate the mps and judges will just be volunteers taking home zero pay.

At a meeting convened by TSC and where all arms of Govt including Treasury was represented the Commission offered 50% instead of the 300% that the Union was demanding .
The document is duly signed by TSC,was produced as evidence in court and was the basis of the court award.

Even the harmonization they are singing about has not happened. Even the job evaluation are not out to support the structures!!!

Some facts I have come across:
1) the 50-60 percent increment is over 4 years
2) this means it will be an increment of 15 per cent to the lowest paid and 12.5 per cent for the highest paid - annually (compounding?)
3) the pay rise is to be back dated to July 1, 2013
4) the current annual pay for teachers is 119 billion meaning this year alone gava has to fork out 59.5 billion
My question is... what is the 17 billion figure being thrown around?

the only reason I think UK should pay is BECAUSE THE COURTS SAID SO! so his arguements should be "Can't pay".... not "Won't pay"... the "Can't pay" has legal consequences! Kuna fine? kwa hii story? ama jail term? If an employer is asked to pay you X shillings aseme "Sina!" what is the way around it? anawekwa ndani?

Well..
Private schools will demand that full fees be paid immediately. After all they have bills to pay and teachers on contract. So the issue of unpaid September salaries does not apply to private institutions.
Come 2016, the same schools will demand First term school fees as usual.
End sufferers? students of course and coupled with a crazy and nerve wrecking study schedule to cover up for lost time.
I don't get it.Why are we assuming that fees paid in 3rd term will be rolled over to First term just because the government says so?
Have the private schools reached an agreement on that or is the gov't is simply assuming they will obey simply because they said so? It won't happen.
Private Institutions will justify their demand for new fees next semester and the government will not care to listen to your tribulations since they have no contract.

Public- No fees,No salary,No school
Private- Fees,Salary pay, No school
Sufferer in both cases- The student and parent.

Everyone is protecting their zones at the expense of learning. They don't give a Damn.

the judge, if he is competent, should ask for concrete evidence why govt can't pay won't pay... if after examining carefully he finds this is the case, he should maintain status quo n give the parties an opportunity to meet and settle dispute out of court... all this time the teachers should be in class though

Already, Henry Rotich and his team are thinking through how raise nearly Sh570 billion, which the Government plans (already budgeted) to spend but does not have! kweli hii ni 3rd world!
