Okari's story doesn't add up. He's creating a mountain out of a mole hill. If he wanted a good story he should have embedded himself with the military group that has recently been deployed into boni forest to clear terrorists, and should have brought us updates from the front line, CNN style. Instead he visited a regular police station in the general area which has been carrying out its normal policing duties albeit with a few hiccups hapa na pale which is usual for all work environments.
The media has a role to boost the morale of all officers and also offer hope to the wananchi who count on those 'brave' officers to secure them and the country. But when they focus on negativities and trivialities and engage in sensationalism, they lose focus of the bigger picture (winning the war) and end up demoralizing the forces and weakening the confidence that wananchi have in their protectors.
