The world athletics championships will kick off on August 22. Kenya has prospects for 3 or 4 gold medals. But it will be toughAlso interesting -Could Justin Dopelin upstage Bolt. It looks like it. -South African Wade van Nykerk could win gold in the 400m - Mo Farah could achieve a triple double - Watch out for potential surprises from Dafne Schippers, Amel Tuka, Evan Jager maybe even Jenna Prandini

Dopelin doing so well but i still dont see him past the jamaican, the guy can put in the gears when need be Life is an endless adventure

This is normal. A track athlete is usually at his apex for about 3-4 years after which injuries take their toll. Thats why when you see Gatlin running faster at age 33 than he did when he was 23 you have to assume he is doping. Its a classic unnatural progression.

I am so happy Bolt has beaten Dopelin. A known cheater winning the 100m would have been disastrous for the sport.
But it was close. The Bolt of two years ago would have simply blown away everyone. It seems Gatlin was leading but lost his form in the last 20m and Bolt passed him. It may have been the pressure of seeing Bolt breath down his neck.

Amazing performance from Bolt. Carl Lewis ameze wembe zaidi. I love this guy. Perfect execution. Yes he has slowed down but there is no denying he is still the best in the world. He also knows how to build up to the main final event by not killing himself in the heats and semis and also playing down his real form that he only lets shine at just the perfect hour.
Remember his buildup to the 2012 Olympics where he lost the 100 and 200 m Jamaican qualifiers to Johan Blake so that all his doubters got excited and started planning his funeral only for him to blow them away at the finals. He did the same thing this year, injury, slow times, avoiding Gatlin and letting him shine kidogo and make some kidogo money.
He set the stage perfectly for the final showdown, everything upto that 80m mark when Gatlin looked like he had it then he just released the lightning Bolt that we all know he possesses and just crowned himself the Greatest Sprinter the world has ever seen. Fantastic performance, amazingly perfect execution, beautiful display of strategy and athleticism.

It's a travesty that a guy who has been busted twice doping and been banned is still running and people getting excited about the times he has clocked this year!!! The guy should have been banned for life after the second time!!! And I suspect he's still doping...that's why it was great pleasure watching Bolt retain the title after all the hoopla by naysayers... And if Doplin was unable to beat Bolt this time, he'll never do it...and rightly so. Doping always reminds me of Marion Jones - my world was shattered when it was revealed she was doping. I'd stop watching sprint if it was discovered Bolt dopes. Waiting for Kenya to start bagging in the gold...1,500M mens, 3,000M steeplechase men and 10,000M women is a surety...nowadays the rest are not straightforward, even 800M mens... BEER IS LIVING PROOF THAT GOD LOVES US AND WANTS US TO BE HAPPY!

You do not want to kill yourself in the heats or semis. The aim of those is to qualify, the slower the time the better. You want to unleash your best at the final. Best strategy of the competition so far is David Rudisha. Did you see how he eliminated Nijel Amos in the Semis by running a very slow semis from the front? The other semi final had already been ran and Rudisha and Amos were in the same semi final. Rudisha knows that in qualifying the first 2 go through regardless of time and then the others will depend on the times of the two semis. So by running at the front he controls his position. He guards himself from being passed but also sets a pace that is comfortable for him. So he ran a slow paced semi and Amos was beaten into 3rd place and eliminated. Now he can relax a bit in the final.
