44M pounds was not a bad recoup, should be able to get Pedro and a decent centre back before window closes. Di Maria would have had a stellar season at Utd if LvG had used him in his best position...too bad he didn't want to stay

I thought the guys paid karibu 60M - how is that a recoup, si hako ni ka hasara ka 15M hivi

It's a 15M pound loss in just 1 season but just consider how many players can be bought for 59M pounds in 1 season and then still command 44M pounds the next season. There must be only like 5 players who can do that. Hence my use of the term "recoup", though wrong in the real meaning of the word. So I'll take that back for the sake of progress.

So seems like Pedro will only come to Utd if guaranteed a starting berth in the first 11, looks like Chicharito is not prepared to play 3rd fiddle again and may be headed to West Ham, of all teams.

Rafael and Chicharito, those are two players I'll miss as a Utd fan...

The loss is far less if you discount the exchange rates and also the fact that 59 million included add ons based on Champion league's perfomance. Nevertheless 59 million was outright extortion by real notwithstanding our dire circumstances then. Pedro will be a valuable addition. No flair but can produce 12 goals a season. He has the right work rate,is well versed at pressing games and that winning mentality.Rafael rushed tackles, his injury records and vertical disadvantage were his major undoing. And at his age, he needs consistent playtime which could not be guaranteed with the arrival of Darmian. VG still needs to prioritize on CM. It's scary enough to imagine Blind is being drafted for the role and even more worse Jones and Evans are still around!

Every Utd fan is crossing his fingers that LvG does not think that the centre back pairings he has will enable him mount a title challenge when it was De Gea who actually salvaged most of the points that took us back to the CL, small matter of actually qualifying for it notwithstanding...

Smalling and Rojo can be decent, but Utd need a leader at the back, proven. Jones and Blind are not it. Evans should have already been shipped off along with other people surplus to requirements. Stones will come at a hefty price and may not be worth it, most English players aren't...

The loss is actually more than £15m because Real Madrid are set to receive £5.5m.

Last Sunday's humiliation might trigger some positive transfer response. Arsenal now linked with Grzegorz Krychowiak; who has a name so hard to spell and even harder to pronounce.

Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Don't bite your tongue trying to pronounce Polish names even though in just about all cases, they do not sound like how they look. Example is Grzegorz, simply pronounced as je-go-sh, Polish for Gregorysmile

Wrong! LvG came out and said Otamendi was never a target for him despite repeated links. After that, City promptly lapped him up.

Pedro, on the other hand, was a definite LvG target, so if it turns out Chelsea have pulled out the rug from under him then that will be quite sensational.

As for Otamendi, most Utd fans naturally assume there's another target we're not aware about e.g. Laporte of Bilbao, because if LvG assumes Smalling, Rojo, Blind, McNair and Jones are enough cover then he'll be given a proper wake up call before the difficult Jan transfer window...

Trust Mourinho to do such coups after another team has done the ground work...too bad he won't join, but that means Mata keeps playing.

Wonder who he will sub, since he wants game time before Euros...I have a feeling Oscar will be sacrificed...just like Mata was...

Its being reported that Pedro is already in London for his medical.

Pedro is a forward (bit similar to Chicharito) and i think he's being signed because of Diego Costa's fitness issues.

LvG antics on the 2 Spaniards made Pedro develop cold feet for Man Useless!

Reports from various media already reporting that Byern have rejected an unofficial bid from Utd for 60M pounds for Muller, so hio afadhali tusahau, that's like Utd fans who thought Ramos would seriously ever consider leaving Madrid for Utd.

This is the point where we just accept we have lost that star appeal - even Di Maria came to Utd as a last resort last season.

Personally I prefer unknown signings like Darmian. It's very hard to get a 20 goal a season forward/striker who is in the open market. When people start saying Higuain is valued at 70M pounds, a striker who requires at least 10 clear cut chances to bury 1, then you know the footballing world has gone nuts.

I actually won't be surprised if LvG figures he has an adequate squad and instructs Woodward not to buy anyone else...until he's jolted back to reality by an injury to someone like Smalling
