@Obiero - Good luck.
I will sign off this thread until we see what 1H brings. I do wish you the best.
Find me at KK or KenRe where the profits are flowing with abandon.

This organization is in a big ditch and it will take long to get out of it. From outside looking in, it drosn't appear as if the real cause of the mess is fully known and appreciated nor is the solution or array of sulutions. I fear investors buying could be letting emotions and stomach instincts influence them

Where's a credible source??

In the meantime, those who invested in Airline stocks in the US realized an average of +300% gain in the last three years!

@afroblk please continue to educate our dear brother @vvs.. He made a huge loss on KQ and that makes him insist that the firm cannot turn a corner.. Today KES 6.50 will print. We are taking off!!! :)

I will not touch KQ until the Management & Board have changed. In particular, the guy who pushed (& benefited from) Project Mawingu.

To paraphrase Warren Buffett: Do I trust the Management? No, I do not.

That informs my decision to invest however attractive the price or the ratios of any firm I look at.
I can't buy enough shares to own 25% to influence any NSE firm so I will remain a minority shareholder who relies on the Board/Management to do the right thing.

@wazua we now only need to ask ourselves who is it that bought 10.5million KQ shares on Friday at a cost of 63million and whether he/she/they shall be back for more.. Swali nyeti

Vol spike last Friday was 10M shares.
Yesterday another vol spike of 6M shares.

Heavy activity going on. Local insitution? Which one? NSSF?

Comparing the two ugly sisters, if one must really marry these gok daughters, MSC is less ugly than KQ.

MSC has rammed through a management reset while KQ is still sitting pretty with last year's makeup!

Thanks @hisah but Ethiopian is not a commercial airline in the strict sense. Its cost per ticket is subsidized by the state heavily. Its staff are grossly underpaid and not unionaisable.. Further, the state bears the cost in purchase of the actual craft, so very low capex

Exactly gok should use those strategies if indeed KQ is to big to fail. Also borrow better ones from Emirates, Etihad, Qatar and Singapore. But before that top heads need to roll (and some handcuffed for financial rape) and take a sizable pay cut then the rest of the staff. Also kick out that bankster called citi and co and kill those rogue hedges.

KQ is a financial crime scene at the moment.

As for TA, if that volume spike doesn't hold the low at 5 zone, the next slide will be sharp.

Non-cash interventions:

Fuel & staff costs are the 2 major industry costs. Thus;

1. The CS scrap all taxes on Jet Fuel.

2. The two houses focus on pro-business legislation instead of squabbling. Bloated governance, this Katiba?!?

3. The pilots consider the progressive productivity linked pay too.

4. Management desist trying to endear the airline to Kenyans and ponder the story of Jesus of Nazareth.

5. If NBK's 5B Rights is still in limbo, KQ's management must do more with less!

About this. KQ also extended to end October the use of a larger 777-3 and redeployed it on the Hanoi route in place of a 787-8. The 777-3s were earlier reported to be returned to GECAS if I recall well.

Other sources report the 2 787-8s will be flown in beginning of October.

Matching capacity to passengers is overall good.

for the next 10 years KQ will be making money for Treasury and Afreximbank. Wanjikus have to forget dividends for as long!

Money for the plane manufacturers, financiers/lessors, oil companies, pilots and executives but nothing left for the shareholders. As optimistic as I am for KQ and its newer fleet, I Know that operating and financing costs will go up exponentially, offsetting increase in revenues and savings in maintenance.
