According to Reuters, PPA between Kenya Power and Kleen Energy for 6 MW Hyrdo power is 9.20 U.S cents per Kwh which is 3x what Kenya Power pays Kengen Hydro.
Bad negotiators at Kengen or Kenya Power is overpaying?

Quote "Chumo said the country's sole electricity distributor had also agreed to buy 6 MW of hydroelectric power from Kleen Energy Ltd at a cost of 9.20 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour. Kleen Energy is expected to start production in August 2016"

How much is KPLC paying KENGEN and where is Kleen energy generating this power?

Hydro at Rupingazi River, Embu (0° 30' 25.44" S, 37° 25' 40.92" E).

PPA between KPLC & KENGEN for Hydo is at ~US cents 2.869/ kWh + a capacity charge for some hydro's.

Geothermal e.g for Olkaria 1 PPA is at ~9.409 US cents/kwh.

Methinks Reuters erred. Probably meant the PPA between Kenya Power and Akiira Geothermal but wrote Kleen Energy

Kenya Power has defended itself saying it bought thermal electricity from Triumph Power’s 83-megawatt plant in Athi River, which was on a mandatory reliability test-run after becoming operational last month. The 30-day test-run ended on August 3.

“We also enhanced thermal generation in Nairobi during the GES to maintain reasonable voltages at various sub-stations and ensure reliable supply,” Kenya Power managing director Ben Chumo said of the three day summit that was headlined by US President Barack Obama last month.

Doesn't ERC talk to KPLC before issuing statements?

Families and business whose power is cut off for more than three hours within a day will receive compensation from Kenya Power if a proposed law is adopted.

Yaani this Susan Chepkurui Kimosop Chesiyna is the best person that gava (being the majority shareholder) could come up with to replace Dr. Kilukumi as a director of KPLC?

I can now appreciate @VVS's reluctance to invest in gava stocks. 15 years in the teaching profession (doesn't mention where and at what age she started, she's now 48) equates to 'vast experience in project management and communication'? Kweli ma spin doctors wako na kazi. Hebu wazuan's google the institution that awarded that degree - like it's issued by DALC! SMH....

I stand to be corrected...

She was elected unopposed but what's the point of standing against her if she has the backing of GoK's 51%?

What 'value' does she bring as a director to a firm like KPLC?
