You need to stop being ignorant and read your constitution.

Peter Born please just tell us what if anything the president can do about corruption. You mean to tell us that because of the new constitutional dispensation, our president cannot address corruption at all?

The president is the CEO of this country. He has the responsibility of providing strategic direction and is our vision carrier. He has been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring that our little resources are used optimally without wastage. He however doesnt exist in a vacuum. He cannot work in isolation. We have other stakeholders in the middle level and operational level to implement his policies.
Uhuru has the best interest of this country at heart. He has however some key people in his government who are dragging him to the mud. These people are a necessary evil.He needs them for his re-election and thus he has to tolerate them.I am sure we will see drastic efforts in his second term as he will have nothing to lose.
Look at the way parliament shot down the motion to prosecute Wailers people due to the hustlers jet. What is uhuru supposed to do to them? Why would a member of PAC who was involved in drafting the report be the first member to reject the same report in the house. This is the highest level of impunity and lack of accountability. We as Kenya citizens need to wake up and send these greedy & corrupt pigs home.

Well said @Peter. But the solution won't work. This is not the only set of MPIGS we've complained about, remember Marende and his gang? The PIC is just rotten, the EACC usiseme, the KPS is a joke..... we're cooked. The CORD brigade is only desperate for the eating. IMHO the new constituion takes us further deeper down the drain. Only a revolution (bloody) will purge Kenya from the rot.

President is playing his part very well, it is Kenyans accused of corruption by EACC e.t.c who are holding us ransom by REFUSING TO RESIGN (encouraged by their supporters). Uhuru Kenyatta has given them an apt period of 60 day's now lapsed, yet the buggers are "clinging to power" despite what Obama (a J.D) would have advised the "civic" busybodies and perhaps "supported them financially", that issues of CONFLICT OF INTEREST (legalese for selfishness) require all patriotic Kenyans associated with the "accused thieves" to ask them to resign because, for example, they cannot be the ONLY ONES ("i am the only one") who can do the job with many cases behind them, give another Kenyan a chance as you solve your cases. It is not about "your tribe", sijui nyeri blah blah blah, but a universal principle which Kenyan's just ignore and expect the President to personally pressure them to go to hell!

Nothing can be more mistaken than the idea of a violent revolution. If one would care to study and learn from history then it'd be possible to see that such talk is dismal. Right now Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and coming soon, Syria, are live examples of how not to achieve true Revolution.

'The more things change, the more they remain the same' is an admonition and hint for any true revolutionary work. Ted Kasczinsky - the 'unabomber' offers a fresh glimpse of the challenge of having a true revolution in his 'Road to revolution'. In it he shows us how powerful 'the system' is.

And when I look at my own revolutionary journey, I can see why indeed the system is so powerful, nay, I can see its goodness- even in its oppressive manifestations.

What needs to be done is to have a rise in consciousness and self understanding, and most crucially an upward development of economic and political tools.

Here's an open secret, forms of government and forms of rulership and culture change according to emergent tools, and how control of tools is distributed and finally how 'new' forms of energy are harnessed.

Revolution isn't about toppling government but evolving it to higher standards. Government is even beyond visible institutions, it's beyond blood. If there's a metaphor for it then 'black hole' would be apt. It's not something you can topple, or change by violent behavior.

Thank you !
You just made my point. Uhuru and other Kenyan presidents are more concerned with being elected than actually addressing issues.

He is more interested in building tribal blocks and as such fosters tribalism which is Kenya's biggest cancer.

If fostering tribalism gets him elected, he will do it. If fostering corruption helps him get elected, he will do it. These people care nothing about the average Kenyan.

Others have been trying to suggest eti Uhuru cannot do anything because of the new constitution. You just pointed out the truth which is that he concerned about maintaining his tribal bloc. This is exactly the problem with Kenyans. We are so overwhelmed by tribalism that having a person of our ethnic persuasion in office is more important than having a person who addresses issues.

And The idea that Kenyans should vote for a president then wait for his second term for him to address pressing issues is ludicrous. This kind of attitude is baafrigha are lagging behind.

Uhuru could have easily stopped Ruto from getting that hustler jet or from grabbing langata primary. He is the president for petes sake. All this can be done behind closed doors

With regard to his 2nd term, I disagree. You are just saying this to encourage people to vote for him again. Kibaki never did anything to address corruption or tribalism in his second term and neither will Uhuru. Even in his second term, he will work to protect the tribal coalition in order to ensure an appropriate person is elected.

In addition to the issues above, I would like Uhuru defenders to answer one thing: An audit has indicated billions are missing from ministries. The cabinet secretaries are directly appointed by the president. So far he has done nothing. I am not sure he has even addressed this issue with the seriousness it deserves. I am not sure he has even mentioned it.

Do Peterborn, Kratos and others mean to tell us that the president cannot at leat demand answers, hire a special investigator, fire cabinet ministers for inability to account for money?

People want answers and the president is silent. Is this appropriate behaviour from a president?

If it is true as you say that the president cannot do anything then we should change the constitution and stop voting for presidents.

When you see issues like corruption, crime, traffic, safety etc not addressed, you can blame yourselves. You are the ones making excuses for the president because he is from your ethnic group.

some of the audits are not credible. Auditor General was provided with documentation but ignored, went ahead and presented 'findings' to parliament. If you know how auditing works, then clearly this is unprofessional, you cant afford to discredit even a little bit about your profession as an auditor because management usually dismisses everything you tell them going forward. Doesn't mean some funds have not been stolen by Ouko needs to address the credibility issues.

True. When I saw the report was by one Ouko I knew it is hogwash as Ohio's name betrays him.
