Thieves on Wednesday released bees on
police who had gone to arrest them at
Webuye Pan-Paper Mill.
More than 10 thieves were trying to steal
scrap metal and had carried the bees in a
sack.
They released the swarm and fled into the
forest.
The police were forced to retreat. One
officer was seriously stung and treated at
Webuye District Hospital.

Police are searching for a gang of at least 10 men that shot and killed one person as they robbed residents of Kerarapon near Nairobi’s Karen estate early Tuesday morning as they left for work.

Residents say the gang, armed with guns, set upon four security guards on 19th Drive and tied them up.

“They then wore the security guards’ reflector jackets and stood in strategic areas where they waited for every resident who was leaving for work. They robbed them at gunpoint
,” Mr Jesse Kirongothi, a resident, said.

He said victims were robbed of their money, laptops, phones and other belongings.

Kerarapon is a high-end estate near former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Karen residence, but is administratively in Ngong.

Residents say despite incidences of crime being rampant in the area, the police have not done enough to tame them.

Mr Charles Mahinda, chairman of the Kerarapon Residents Association, said the situation was getting worse.

“The Kerarapon Police Post does not have a patrol car. We have even taken it upon ourselves to fundraise to buy a motorcycle for the officers. They have really been trying to help us but they do not have the resources,” said Mr Mahinda.

Won't patrolling on a motorcycle be more dangerous for the cops, especially at night.

Same script different cast. This area has been insecure and morning hours are almost always when thugs strike.

He was the Group Internal Auditor at Nakumatt Holdings. It must have been a "deal" that went wrong.

Our cops can actually solve crimes when they want or when they have the right incentive...

Last month
Nakumatt senior auditor James Karanja was assassinated by a police officer hired by a cartel stealing money from the supermarket, investigations indicate.

Karanja was shot twice by a lone gunman on a motorcycle as he left his office on Mombasa Road on May 7.

The criminals did not steal anything from the auditor.

He was killed because he sealed loopholes in the supermarket's distribution network where staff pocketed millions of shillings in fraudulent deals, police said yesterday.

Police suspect that Karanja was silenced because he unearthed a major financial scandal involving some senior managers at Nakumatt.

Investigators from the Flying Squad unit and Makadara CID have been probing the suspicious murder.

On Monday, they arrested boda boda operator Dennis Maroko who is based at Kangemi, who led them to police officer Ezekiel Onsongo based in Runda police station, suspected to be the hitman.

Also arrested is the supermaket's accounts manager Philip Manyura who is said to have taken part in planning the murder.

Maroko told investigators that he was hired by Onsongo to take him to Mombasa Road, where the officer shot and killed the auditor.

He said he was not involved in planning the murder and did not know why Onsongo shot the suspect.

He was shot twice in the head and once in the chest shortly after leaving the company’s offices.

Last evening, investigators were contemplating whether to charge Maroko or make him a prosecution witness.

Onsongo, Maroko and Manyura will be taken to court today.

It was very wrong what these 3 men did.

They should squeeze that account manager's balls so that he names more people who were involved in this crime.

I hope they get life at Kamiti for taking such a young brother's love.

Commuters from Eastlands aboard a Double M minibus were on Thursday robbed at gunpoint on Jogoo road while stuck in the morning traffic jam.

This was not the first of such incidents. Similar robberies have been committed along the road during heavy traffic.

During the 6am incident on Thursday, a gang of six smartly dressed men, who posed as passengers, whisked out guns and ordered other passengers to surrender their phones and money.

One victim who narrated his ordeal to Nairobi News, recounted how he had boarded the minibus at Bee Centre near Donholm.

Strangely, when they had reached the Donholm stage, he said, the conductor had asked the driver to drive off with a half-filled bus claiming that there are traffic police officers in the area.
