The other two things which, not much has been said about are the 44K/tonne tax on imported sugar as per budget reading and the directive by PORK yesterday to clamp on illegal. That should be good enough news to the local sugar companies. My only worry would be the capacity of the current team at msc to deliver. The stock rally might be temporary until things happen. My two Zim dollars.

Kenyans will be forced to revive mumias unwillingly by being subjected to buy expensive mumias sugar when cheap and better sugar is available elsewhere, is this not rewarding inefficiency?I foresee very high sugar price soon with this import restrictions.

Crazy demand...

kweli Kenyans are speculators...a company that's almost dead and buried and gets 25% capital it needs to pay farmers and do a few machine repairs is cause for a rally??? This company is so far from profitability...maybe its the high tax to be levied on imports that's the cause of the rally...but doesn't the high tax levied on imports conflict with comesa trade agreements?

The one thing i do not understand is why Kenyans think anything imported is superior to a local product. I though this should have died long time ago and the time the tailor used to tell us the shirt is local but the buttons are imported are long gone.

If you do not support your industries who will.
