No wonder FIFA could pay $10M to Warner.

Lets see what the FBI will find. One story is that Warner was paid in suitcases full of cash. The SA Sports Minister (who is the butt of many jokes in SA) says it was an unconditional bank transfer, but the letter specifically said PAY WARNER.

Septic Bladder resignation statement:

"I cherish FIFA more than anything and I want to do only what is best for FIFA and for football. I felt compelled to stand for re-election, as I believed that this was the best thing for the organisation."

"While I have a mandate from the membership of FIFA, I do not feel that I have a mandate from the entire world of football – the fans, the players, the clubs, the people who live, breathe and love football as much as we all do at FIFA."

You only just figured that out?

"We need term limits not only for the president but for all members of the Executive Committee."

While I wholeheartedly agree with this, it's funny how he only wants it now that he's out.

Oh please! Speak for yourself. The game has stagnated locally due to FIFA sanctioned corrupt leadership and everytime the state attempts to intervene, Kenya was threatened with a ban yet FIFA would just sit there and prefer the rotten leadership - that also elected them - remain. At whose cost was all this?

ooh please. This african mentality that you have to police people need to end. Did Blatter tell kina Nyamweya to neglect football and the players in their respective countries? How come the local federations in europe and other developed nations run theirs effectively yet they receive the same funds?

You obviously do not follow local football so you havent the slightest clue. No one has said Blatter told Nyamweya to neglect football. However Blatter encourages bad behaviour by :

1. Giving each federation $1.3 million per year and not asking them to account for it.
2. Despite knowing how corrupt and incompetent Nyamweya is , Blatter rewarded him with a position in a FIFA committee where he can rake in more money.
3. Nyamweya got rid of true reformers like Shollei and Blatter agreed
4. In the KPL versus FKF wrangles, Blatter sided with Nyamweya against the advice of the FIFA consultants who supported KPL.

When you look at search behaviours it becomes obvious that Blatter wants to keep people who are loyal to him and will vote for him no matter how incompetent. It also becomes obvious that the $1.3 million he gives to each federation is not meant for development but as a bribe so that Nyamweya and his ilk can vote for him. No wonder Africa votes for Blatter as a bloc.

Europeans do not need his money and thats why he cant bribe them.

Sepp has done nothing for Africa. Literally nothing. At least the previous FIFA president (Havalenge) gave Africa additional world cup spots at the expense of Europe. Under Blatter Africa only got more spots when the number of teams increased.

African football has regressed badly under Blatter because he coddles corrupt buffoons starting with Hayatou.

Imagine how far ahead African football would be if Blatter enocuraged true reformers like Shollei to run football.

Blatter has been fooling Africans just so they can vote for him as a bloc. I laugh when I hear people saying he is good for Africa. What exactly has he done for Africa?

And don't bring up the 2010 world cup because we now know he did that because of the $10m bribe he received.

Equality ghitu ghani? Do you want African teams to excel or do you want political sideshows?

The reason why Blatter likes to surround himself with thieves and corrupt individuals is because a clean person could become a whistle blower and expose FIFA corruption to the world. Thats why Nyamweya was rewarded with a position in a FIFA comittee as was Hayatou. And thats why Shollei and Shikanda were ejected from FKF with FIFA approval.

I am not saying Europe is clean. I am saying Blatter is bad for Africa because he encourages incompetents and thieves. In Africa we do not have strong judicial mechanisms to prevent corrupt people from running the sport. If Nyamweya was in a western country, he would have been busted for tax evasion or something. He would rotting in jail now.

Those who say Blatter is good for Africa should tell us ONE good thing he has done for Africa

I think we ask too much, at least the old man gave us a plastic playing surface. smile
lakini @alba if as a country we cannot prosecute such blatant corruption do we expect fifa to help us in anyway.

Give the gizzer his credit, he has transformed fifa into a monetary behemoth with a decent amount being thrown the Africans way, we have chosen and are comfortable when the same is embezzled and that calls for change o our side.

I think for Africa, especially the kenyan team and football to excel we need to stop begging fifa for handouts - I am sure we can plant and maintain grass by ourselves.

Septic Bladder has done NOTHING for Africa, Asia & other small countries. He has his puppets running local football - like FKF. They are protected by him ( FIFA ). He does not care what they do with the money FIFA pays these countries.
Why else would these countries vote in bloke for him ?
He sets the example himself. He pays himself an annual salary of US $ 15 million AND an unlimited expense account. He does not know what a commercial airline is. All his travels around the world are on private jets.
And FIFA is supposed to be a non profit organization - with a bank balance of US$ 1 BILLION.
Go figure that out.

That is why he has little support in Europe. Those guys are not easy to corrupt. Can you imagine if a guy like Nyamweya, or the other thugs in Africa & Asia were running football in England, Germany etc.
They would be in jail.

1. FIFA has thrown the money at Nyamweya types. Almost none of that money you speak of has reached the grassroots.

The money is used by Nyamweya to bribe delegates so they can vote for him in the next FKF elections. This way Nyamweya assures that he is also surrounded by corrupt sycophants.

None of the players benefit. No wonder we dont have any youth structures.

2. Begging FIFA for handouts is not the issue. The issue is to get competent people running football. Blatter does not want that. He wants to surround himself with Nyamweya types who are as corrupt as he is. As I said above, he does not want Shollei types who can build football. This is what the problem is.

Blatter even wants FKF to take over running the league instead of KPL. Do you remember how much of a disaster the league was when KFF ran it. This is a classic example of how Blatter is ruining football in Africa.

If FKF was run by people like Shollei or Shikanda or even Peter Kenneth, it would be awash in sponsorships and nobody would need FIFA money. But Blatter does not want that. He wants to keep us dependent on his handouts and worse, he only wants corrupt people running football.

Nyamweya's own league is in financial trouble with clubs going broke yet he gets $1.3 million from Blatter each year.

Make No Mistake, the FIFA War is Not About Football or Corruption

C&P:
Power, money and partnership

With Russia still under Western economic sanctions following the Crimean takeover, the US is keen to further squeeze Moscow and deny it a chance to showcase its soft-power to a global television audience of a billion-plus people. Besides, there is serious money at stake. The World Cup is the most lucrative sporting event in the world, eclipsing even the Olympics. The 2014 qualifying rounds and final tournament brought in $4.8bn over four years and it gave a much-needed boost to small businesses and tourism in Brazil, besides creating a positive image of the country for millions of foreign visitors. A similar boost for the Russian economy and its image in the world could negate the West’s efforts to isolate Russia in the international community.

While the Americans have their geopolitical games to play, the Europeans are concerned about power. Dependent on South America and Africa for football talent, and, increasingly Asia for TV audiences, the Europeans know they are losing control. “Europe wants to import all the labour from us because that gives them a global TV audience and lots of money. But they do not want to give us World Cups or share any power with us,” says an African delegate who voted for Blatter.

Demonised in Europe and the US, Blatter remains popular outside the West because he took football where no other FIFA boss dared to. “The game is for the poor, not for the elite. And Blatter brought it to them in Africa, in Asia, and that’s why most of Africa and Asia voted for him,” Talal Badr, President of Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, told journalists on Saturday. “We don’t like governments to interfere with sports or federations. We don’t want these governments to control the results or impose on us where the game goes,” Badr added.

Whether or not Blatter is involved in corruption can only be revealed by an honest probe. The FBI investigation may become bigger and indict him later. For the present, however, Blatter remains in command of world football as most countries believe what the ‘West’ is trying to do is rob ‘the Rest’ of the chance to be equal partners in the only truly global game.
