Nothing like too early to tell, get it from us.......Sonko has no chance in either side, he can't stand on his own.....SIMPLE!!!!

Sonko received the third highest number of votes (all candidates) in the last election.

Imagine the damage he could do to JAP if they pissed him off and he had to look for another vehicle. Or, better yet, imagine the salivation from CORD at the prospect of lading such a prize. They would bend over backwards to accommodate him (maybe including throwing Kidero under the bus).

As long as he keeps his core base (which he is doing with all those 'Rescue this,' 'Bling bling that'...initiatives) Sonko can not be beat.

JAP needs him more that he needs the party and I am sure they know this, which is why they put up with all his shenanigans and they will continue to do so.

You want Sonko inside the tent pissing out, not outside the tent pissing in.

Sonko was in ODM before he moved to Narc-Kenya. Remember the Makadara by-election!! ODM refused to conduct nominations.

Haiyaa, if the JAPanese abandoned sonko, it would be the greatest political mis-calculation of all times.

Did someone say kikuyus can't vote for sonko if they have a "mundu wa nyumba" running ? Actually they did when sonko beat dick wathika and Reuben ndolo for the makadara seat. Clearly, sonko brought in a new dynamic in city politics apart from good old tribe.

For those who love history, should UMK listen to Maina kamanda et.al, we have a great opportunity to replay the 1961 legco elections for the then Nairobi constituency.

Here are the facts.

Tom mboya was running against munyua waiyaki. 70% of the registered voters were Kikuyu. All top Kikuyu leaders threw their weight behind munyua waiyaki. Even Jaramogi threw his weight behind waiyaki in a bid to cut mboya down to size. The poll results were as follows;

Tom mboya - 95%
Munyua waiyaki - 5%

You might want to take note of the eerie similarities.

Munyua waiyaki - well educated from a great family.
Mboya - little formal education, son of a sisal plantation worker.

Waweru - well educated investment banker.
Sonko - need I say anything here ?

Sonko received a higher number of votes because CORD had no serious candidate for that seat. otherwise he would not have picked more than 700K votes.

But as we say.. lets wait and see...

The more important thing, than the numbers, is the kind of voter Man-Sonko attracts. Mostly young people, namely the generation that will largely decide elections from now on.

Any party or politician that ignores this fact deserves to lose, as they indeed will.

Like him or not, Sonko today is worth his 'political' weight in Gold.

There are lessons to be learnt on Kenyan politics in Nairobi.

It's not about what the politician does on the spotlight that matters. It's what he does on the background. Attending funerals, showing up at women chama initiatives, handouts to the unemployed, seed capital for micro businesses, hospital bills paid, dealing with police harassment issues, bursaries for several student, it's basically buying favors directly from the voters and not sucking up to the classy party bigwigs.
Can Kidero match that ?

Look at the sinai fire incident. Sonko is the only politician who has still stood by those people close to 5 years later. How many votes does a simple act like that carry ?

Sonko won't be hiring a campaign team, people will be scrambling to be a part of it and considering that a privilege.

At the back of his mind I am sure he realizes that he cannot have a coherent conversation with the governor of the central bank. But why does he need to ?

Boss, unless is a battle of drug lords, no one stood a chance of beating Sonko, not even RAO himself. He used the 'serikali saidia' thing to his advantage. As of now, he is the people's governor in Nairobi.

Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Like Shebesh saying she got more votes than majority of Governors and thus she can be president. Senator was never a substantive position for Sonko to be blocked, even those his shenanigans will be stopped if need be!!!!

The only way to stop Sonko is to make sure he does not get on the ballot. Jubilee are not likely to make such a mistake, and risk the negative fallout. Surely it must be dawning on them that the next election is not likely to be the cakewalk they have often boasted about. The fate of one, Goodluck Jonathan could not have gone unnoticed. They will need every help they can get.
