The family of Cord leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday said they had no objection to President Uhuru Kenyatta appointing the former PM’s sister to a parastatal job.

Nominated MP Oburu Oginga, who is the elder brother of the Cord leader, said the family will not object to the appointment of Dr Wenwa Akinyi Odinga as a member of the Kenya Medical Research Institute board since she is a professional.

But Dr Oginga said the appointment should not be turned into a political affair.

He said Dr Wenwa has rich experience in both public and private sectors and has a lot to offer.

At the same time, the Orange Democratic Party said individuals picked by President Kenyatta had no capacity and moral authority to transform parastatals (except Dr. Wenwa Odinga).

ODM chairman John Mbadi said the 'face' of the appointments made by State House cannot bring any meaningful reforms in the parastatal sector because "they are old guards".

"This is just the old way of doing things. Bringing back by recycling political losers does not add any value to government," he said.

Tuiko na shida, what would have happened if each URP mp was allowed to nominate 2 peopleto the parastatals as promised by machozi?

Rutto calls a crisis meeting with URP riftvalley mps over the appointments

This DP should be the highest position this guy should ever hold in this republic.

Quote:
Yesterday MPs from Ruto's political base had arranged a press conference where they were to denounce the latest appointments made by President Uhuru Kenyatta, but cancelled it without explanation.

It is understood that Ruto had entered into an agreement with the MPs that at least each of their constituencies would be given two positions to nominate an individual of their choice for appointment to the parastatal sector.

The total number of people from the Gikuyu, Meru, and Embu communities in that list is less than 100 .... You are no different from those who thought the defense forces chief of staff Mwathathe is from Mt Kenya.

Whatever I wrote was not for Mawinder but for the sake of others who don't understand what he represents.

Tribal linkage will kill us, so sad we still defend and justify appointments in Kenya 50+ years down the line. If the bugger is qualified let it be and this should apply to all not just one position!!!!!

It is important that Jubilee appoints qualified people and not on tribal basis. Kenya needs a Rendille as president and not a Kikuyu, Kalenjin, Luo, Luhya or Kamba.

So some people have the time to comb the list of appointments and get the tribal distribution data. Isorite.

For @mawinder,it's uderstandable,it's actually possible he hasn't even looked at the list. Just throwing some numbers to ignite debate.

Many years ago, a guy from my village became a PPO. The excitement in the village reached fever pitch. The following Sunday service at the PCEA church was dedicated for his thanksgiving. We thought every young guy in the village would join the police force.

Well, 5 guys joined the force alright, but all from his immediate family.

Ignore the list unless your close friend has been appointed to the boards of Kengen, Kplc, Pipeline, Gdc or Kettraco. In that case, then your middle class days are over. Its time to become tenderpreneur.
