@Mwenza, Don't be blinded by your loyalty. You don't have to be a fan of a team to appreciate a good game......and i haven't forgotten only that imho,Liverpool/Hammers was a far much better game. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Mikono juu.Rooney is on fire. 27 goals with 11 more games to go plus some champions league games.I'm seeing 40+ goals. It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt... -Mark Twain

@bkismat I marvel at your praise of Rooney but do you know he falls way short of potent strikers to have graced the Premier league, the top four are Andy Cole,Alan Shearer, Ruud Van Nistelroy and Fernando Torres in that order. Interesting to note he also laggs behind Kevin Phillips,Jermaine Defoe,Darren Bent, Didier Drogba,Anelka (this are current players in the premier league) I wonder why Fergie Keeps him??? The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

@Ric, I may not be a Man fan but i give credit where it is due.Rooney is there at the top with the best. His performance this season is nothing to match with the players you've said with the exception of,maybe, Drogba.Incidentally,he is equally good in the air just as on the ground despite his pint size frame......I would put him alongside former mexican striker,Hugo Sanchez and former Danish player,Michael Laudrup,if not better. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Rooney is on top form right now. World class. If he keeps form, then England will be a team to reckon with. Ric dees, your list is flawed. Why do you add Torres in that list? Sure, he's good, but what has he won? How dare you forget Thierry Henry? Form is temporary, class is permanent

@Ric Dees, which football have you been watching? SAF conceded that he misused Rooney last season and the one before where Ronaldo was at his best, since Rooney can go back and defend, he was placed behind the strikers. Right now most soccer media agree that Rooney is fast approaching the likes of Messi, Ronaldo and Kaka who are right now considered to be the best players in the world. We are not talking about just scoring of goals like Shearer and Ruud boy, we are talking about the overall impact the guy has on a game as a striker. I'm a Man Utd fan but even if I wasn't, I would agree that he is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous players in the premier league. Last night's result against the Hammers offers more proof. Plus he has no showbiz...10 games ni mingi, whoever drops points from now on between the top 3 will make it difficult for themselves. Hopefully we can grab the Carling on Sat, just in case mambo yaende mrama, it would be some consolation.Best season in along time BEER IS LIVING PROOF THAT GOD LOVES US AND WANTS US TO BE HAPPY!

@all I can understand the doubt about the list i had put together and as someone said sure Henry is def upthere with the best. However in order to gauge how potent a striker is, football analysts have put different milestones and in this case the most widely used/accepted is the 50 goal mark vis a vis the number of games played, and it is this list i put forward and also used by coaches before they sign a striker/what is interesting to note is that there is a caption that keeps playing weekend in weekend out on supersport about the four that i have mentioned and their exceptional exploits. one lucky season is not enough to gauge a striker as i believe rooney is having. Sure he is a good a striker, exceptional not in my books. For a team as good as Man U he should be upthere with the best mark you 2 of the top four are former Man U players and also to mention Ole Solksjaer is in the top 10 and he was mostly used as a sub...says a lot about rooneys scoring ability. If one compares rooney with all the other strikers in world class clubs then you will see my point..Torres,Drogba, Van Persie,Etoo, Pato, Ibrahimovic,Higuain,Klose et al..where does rooney rank in this list?? The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

Ric dees, I surely need not to argue with you on how good Rooney is, he does his stuff on the pitch .......try another player!!!! ..."Wewe ni mtu mdogo sana....na mwenye amekuandika pia ni mtu mdogo sana!".

If anybody can compare Rooney with Andy Cole..........then end of story, NO ARGUMENT. How do you compare water with oil? Between Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke i will go for the latter anytime....And they played under the same circumstances. IF YOU EXPECT ME TO POST ANYTHING POSITIVE ABOUT ASENO, YOU MAY AS WELL SIT ON A PIN

Dude, we are talking about this season! Not last season or whatever season! Allan Shearer has scored the most goals in the premier league ever, was he better than Torres? I think not! Point is the guy is exceptional THIS SEASON, not good, exceptional! Game recognize Game...if you can't see it then maybe you just don't want to. Hata gukaa agrees on this one! BEER IS LIVING PROOF THAT GOD LOVES US AND WANTS US TO BE HAPPY!

Though a strikers role is to score goal Rooney is a complete footballer. He looks for the ball by himself at times and scores.he is also ready to do defensive duty.the same cannot be said of some of the so called world class strikers. i never saw ruud van score a goal out of the 18 yard box and neither did i see him dribble the ball past one opposing player. phillipo inzaghi same story It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt... -Mark Twain

@All... Why are we arguing with somebody who wonders why 'Fergie keeps him'? IF YOU EXPECT ME TO POST ANYTHING POSITIVE ABOUT ASENO, YOU MAY AS WELL SIT ON A PIN

Looks like there is hope for Arsenal. Petr Cech got injured last night. Looked serious (I pray that he is out for a long time). Chelsea are also missing two left backs due to injuries. I expect English teams to take advantage of this.

In the 1999/2000 season Kevin Phillips Scored 30 goals for sunderland in his first stint in the premiership, In fact his 30th goal game against chelsea at the bridge where they won 4-1.In this season he won the premiership golden boot and the European Golden boot award, currently he is the only Englishman to have won the latter....so much for wayne Rooney. Kevin phillips plays for birmingham now coming in as a sub, you see why am not excited about the exploits of Rooney this season??? The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

Joachim Löw (Germany coach) “Wayne who? No, I know him, all right. At the moment he is one of the very best strikers in the world. Cristiano Ronaldo is among the best also, but what matters about Rooney is that this season he is in unbelievable form — and that is with the national team as well as with Manchester United. Whether it is in the Premier League, the Champions League or for his country, nobody can stop him at the moment. My feeling when I see him is that he is unstoppable. He has everything that a striker needs.” ..."Wewe ni mtu mdogo sana....na mwenye amekuandika pia ni mtu mdogo sana!".
