This is now disturbing me, If he is retired, he is retired. In Kenya it is assumed if you have held a high office you have done a good job. In my opinion just like you can have an incompetent jua kali mechanic you can also have an incompetent General and I think Karangi is one of the most incompetent generals Kenya has ever had. He should go home and be forgotten. Where are the likes of Daudi Tonje for the military??? Do your job well and retire, don't recycle yourself into another position to continue your poor public service. Unaongea kama wamama fifti kwa soko... why would someone who has never led a boy scout expedition write such garbage about a decorated general who pacified southern Somalia without incurring heavy casualties or getting backlash from the locals. General (Dr) Karangi holds a Masters of Science (MSc) Degree in Security and Risk Management from the University of Leicester (UK),an Honorary Doctorate on Humane Letters (Honoris Causa )from Kenyatta University,Kenya and is also a recipient of the United States of America Award of Degree of Commander,The Legion of Merit.He also holds National Honours and Awards of Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH), Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) and Distinguished Conduct Order (DCO).

May be he can take this many qualifications to some technical college or village polytechnic and pass on his knowledge to some unfortunate youths. There is nothing decorated about Gen Karangi, what role did he play in Somalia, was he the commanding General, did he participate in the planning, I don't think so. He was just shoving papers at DOD. We do not care about his academic credentials, we just need to get the job done and in Westgate he showed what his papers had taught him.... nothing much. I am usually very suspicious of people with a string of degrees. It takes a lot of work to get a degree, writing and rewriting theses and researching in books, you spend a lot of time trying to read your supervisors mind and reading things written in books that you don't have time to look at things in the world and think of solutions. Like Obi says let him go teach if he really is as qualified as it shows..... and this tabia of calling people with honorary degrees, Doctor, should stop, ni upuzi mtupu!!!
