Over 100 students from the University of Nairobi were Sunday morning injured following a stampede after a power transformer exploded.

The 4am incident which happened at the university’s Kikuyu campus caused confusion and panic as many students mistook the explosion for a terrorist attack.

This forced students to scamper for safety with many jumping from as high as the sixth floor of their hostels.

Many sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital.

About 100 were admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital while others were taken to St Teresa and Karen hospitals.

Initial reports indicated that several of them were critically injured.

Absolute dictators are the law! They are however a rare breed this days except for The Gambia and Equatorial Guinea.

Then move to Gambia. Hapa roadside declarations died with Moi. Get used to it.

Understandable for alshabab you d rather die running than painfully die on your knees. The next attack lets all remember this. Counter attack with stones broken glasses sticks, also run. Dont lie down. You will die anyway. But die fighting. Don't surrender to these lunatics.

Why & how are power transformers exploding in Kenya.
- Faulty transformers.
- Sub standard - corruption
- No maintenance.
I have lived in many countries, and never heard of transformers exploding.
Is this peculiar to Kenya
