@Gatheuzi - Have a look at this:

@proverB do u know that airlines and car companies are cyclicals??? why come u come with operating margins for KQ from 2005-2010 then compare them to the economy...we see.

@deal. I merely inform..make people think beyond the " think it's a good buy" mentality.. make people think prety hard about investing..so that the quit blaming others for errors of ignorance..

everything in life is cyclical..what goes around comes around..so does favor.

@proverb. Ar u still ignorin KQ . Even with the massive expansion in fleets and air routes ? Never shun expansion its what makes co.s to grow. I am expecting very good 1 half numbers .

KQ is likely to report profitable quarter 1..only on account of hedging fuel and not operating costs...increase in turnover vs increasing cost to get every additional shilling of that turnover does not seem so bright a concept to me... smile smile

Anyway KQ is speculative for me..based not on the company but investor behaviour...momentum investing..higher volumes quoted for sell at subsequently higher prices implies price increase to continue..quit the counter when volumes traded at higher prices begin to thin out..(totally on T.A on this counter) Laughing out loudly

Fact is.. KQ always has great plans..but somehow they have a way to mess it up.. Increase in passenger and cargo traffic sounds good..but with every increase in unit for transit the cost KQ is incurring for that unit goes up!! Thus why with increase in turnover...operating margin is decreasing!!

I have no issue with their expansion plans.. it is the cost at which they expand that concerns me..

they seem to work like Yu and Zain...selling below cost. that is NOT prudent. d'oh!

Cabin factor dropped to 67% from 71% as a result of more aircrafts being available.

As part of their fleet modernization plan, the new aircraft is suppossed to be more fuel efficient (it is worth noting that the bulk of the costs are fuel related). - too bad Boeing is taking too long to deliver.

I was a KQ supporter. Until I saw the light. It was run by a greedy board & management. @proverb had data I chose to ignore. Bad move.

Hugely influenced by the question: Do the Board Directors, CEO, CFO have ownership?

@Madam Admin - This Eastlander by the name @ProverB deserves a new rank. Do the necessary.

He fought an unpopular war. He took on the popular belief at the time head on. He swam against the tide. He has been proven right.

New Farer, Member, Veteran and Elder depend on number of posts. User is for watu wa tabia mbaya mbaya.

Other ranks like 'Chief' which @ProverB should get are assigned by Madam Admin unilaterally when she is bored!!!

Pole my brother @Obiero. I was just making a comment. It is not my joy when my fellow wazuans lose money.

I am sad when KQ keeps shafting you. The same way I am sad when @guru267's money keeps going down the drain in Home Africa. The same way I was sad when @vvs lost money in Olympia. The same way I am sad when any of us lose money in any counter. We are here to learn and make tonnes of Money. Losing money was NEVER part of the plan!!!

Ahhhh! d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!

@MaichBlack stop digging up those awful memories I had repressed when one conman by the name of MM put an unlubricated broomstick up my *where the sun never shines*... The jamaa did not even have the courtesy of using a prophylactic. Or lube.

BTW, KQ wasn't far behind but I lucked out when I sold off at 13-14.

Thanks @Maich.. It is a living thread indeed. History is good, especially when one uses it to avoid repeating mistakes of the past.
Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

This will go down in history. The day @Obiero finally gave up on KQ. The biggest proponent of KQ around! The biggest proponent of any share/company around!! The guy who sold KCB and put money in KQ!!!

VERY SAD DAY INDEED!

So @obiero ... you say Loss Before Tax of 6.5bn for FY 2014-15 but if the 1H had a 12.5bn Loss Before Tax, where did KQ get/make 6bn from in 2H?
