Public opinion in the US is like the sea, one time it is calm and doesn't really care, then the next it is like a raging storm that destroys everything in its wake or builds up an unknown into something mighty. Obama rode one of these big waves into the presidency and managed to stay there. The tea party wave was a small storm that could have swept him away but it died. Waiting to see what the next one will be.
