@2012.KPLC were getting stuff from some company called metsec, besides direct imports. Most of the cables laid in 2009 were subcontracted and not laid by KPLC themselves. Contractors had no limitation where to buy. Its cheaper to import from South Asia, than from EA cables!!. @Vitu. If KETRACO gives some of their humongous cables orders to EA Cables, then this may help push up EA cables local sales.

@VVS i've haeard of this firm... will it be strictly for setting up transmission lines or was it set to compete with KPLC in distribution??? Mark 12:29 Deuteronomy 4:16

I don't know but EA Cables owns a firm called Nexans (or at least distributes fibre-optic cables made by Nexans) in Tanzania... Greedy when others are fearful. Then they are supposed to let KPLC distribute... Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

@VVS so in other words you are saying they dont compete with KPLC.??? Did the setting up of this company lead to reduced costs for KPLC in any way?? Mark 12:29 Deuteronomy 4:16

Depends on their contracts but EA Cables is NOT a 'producer' of copper or aluminum... thus it has to pass on cost of raw materials... More buyers if the price is lower...
