Tanzania's parliament has approved a tough new law aimed at curbing foreign employment.

Tanzanians are content with what they have, and so they try to put in place measures that are beneficial to their people regardless of the negative consequences.

There is nothing beneficial about preventing free trade. We live in an open system and no country can purport to have a closed system. There is so much poverty in TZ and things will get worse.

The Americans and the Europeans do it - and poverty in Kenya and Tanzania ni sawia, majority of the citizens in both countries live in abject poverty.

A Tanzanian MP has demanded
that her government issue a
statement over an advertisement
by a Kenyan airline, which
according to her, misleads tourists
that Mt Kilimanjaro is in Kenya.
During a Parliament session on
Tuesday, Same East MP Anne
Kilango-Malecela said she wanted
to know why a Kenya Airways
advertisement includes a picture
of the mountain.
“Honourable Speaker, I have seen
a Kenya Airways plane bearing
Mount Kilimanjaro as a symbol
and yet the (Tanzania) government
is silent...the mountain is in
Tanzania and is a leading tourist
attraction,” she said.
Life is short. Live passionately.

The vans access is just the icing. Tanzania is annoyed with the 'coalition of the willing' business, TZ sees Kenya as responsible for formenting the situation where it is finding itself increasingly isolated. They can't understand what the haste is all about, it is in their nature and I for one I am loathe to blame them. So they have taken this small dispute and ran with it. This is where the small-mindedness now comes in.
Unfortunately, Kenyans are getting too hot and bothered. We shouldn't play tit for tat with them. You don't stay angry at a child, and to be honest, the level of business acumen and speed of execution in the Tanzanians in general is comparable to the maturity of a child.
It is sad that people will lose jobs and business opportunities but it is time to look past Tanzania, seek opportunities elsewhere instead of trying to hang onto an economy ran by stubborn and insular people; besides, there is probably little any one can do, so leave them to their tantrums. It is not the end of the world.
South Sudan anyone? The place went up in flames and Kenyans had to leave in a hurry. The EU and the carbon footprint stuff for flowers and horticulture? The unending travel advisories? 24 years under Moi?
We have survived all that.
