Hey fellow Wazuans,

I want to borrow a business loan from Equity Bank and they have asked me for my KCB bank statements, beacause that is where i mainly bank.

The problem is my KCB statements has several bounced cheques that will lead to the automatic disqualification of my loan application at Equity.

While looking for a way out, I have met this guy in Kenyatta Avenue who is telling me that he can make a nice KCB bank statement for me to present to Equity at a small fee.

Can the bank know that the statement I’m presenting is not the actually the real one?

Have you found yourself in a similar situation?

What are risks?

I'm a most honest person but i really need a loan at the moment.

Brothers ad sisters, your Advice please?

Welcome to Wazua. The home of honest people.
As a honest person, I advise you to take the fake statements to Equity.

If the reasons for bouncing are in any way genuine, go ahead and present the reason to the bank - by the way the bank only ask for 6month statement.

Follow @Mawinder advise at your own peril!

@Tinker, that's great advice.

The last page of your crb report shows all your bounced chqs in the last 6 months. Someone at Equity will be wondering why they are missing from your "cooked" statement. They will call a friend at kcb and your fraud will be discovered.

The next chain of events will hurt you even more. The credit officer at equity will forward your ID number and company reg certificate to the risk/compliance dept who will blacklist you as a potential fraudster. Kcb will do the same. And just like that, there will be over 350 bank branches (equity & kcb) in kenya where you can never conduct business.

My advice, wait for 6 months.

Why issue cheques when you know the account is dry?

Wouldn't a honest person be honest with their creditors and tell them they are broke?

Mawinder is here!!!!!

Don't take short cuts. The bank will catch up with you. Borrow from a sacco if you are in one. Or from an individual, provide security and you pay with interest.
Lord, thank you!
